Residence Inn Savannah Downtown/Historic District

If you are trying to decide where to stay and don't feel the NEED to be right on the Riverwalk, then look no further. Clean. Great water pressure in the bathroom. Lovely room with a kitchenette. Don't really need it in the morning because the food for the complimentary breakfast is wonderful. They have two flip over waffle makers and peanut butter for the waffle and peanut butter crowd (I see you!). But here is where they really shine...The Staff. Miss Cassandra at the desk, Mr. Dennis at the door and Miss Catherine in the kitchen. These folks spend their entire time making you feel at home. I would not hesitate to bring my whole family back here. Pluss, the Crystal Beer Parlor is around the corner and that place is worth the location all by itself.

We stay in the Green Cottage suite which was very nice a freshly renovated. The location was perfect for getting around downtown. The trolley buses are only a block away. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The valet service is worth the money as there is limited parking in this area.

This is the nicest hotel I have been to in Savannah! The renovations are complete and the lobby is modern, calming and beautiful. The courtyard and pool are a charming respite after a busy day touring this charming city. The rooms are huge with high ceilings, a full kitchen, work area and large bedroom. It was immaculate and freshly painted. The furnishings were not new but in good condition. The people working at the front desk were cheerful, friendly, welcoming and very helpful. The breakfast was a step up from usual included offerings. We will be back!

Very nice hotel and convenient to major roads.

Excellent time at your hotel. The front desk was one of the major things that made a huge impact on us. Cassandra was amazing & such a pleasant, helpful, kind, happy & professional associate. A great asset to have. Tashina was a chip off the block also with helpful, happy attitude & service. They all made the hotel experience one of a kind & we will be back & send others. The upkeep at the hotel was up to standard as expected at the great Marriot & we thank you for all of it.

Stayed for 3 nights in March of 2024. Same experience as in the review by Lithlith from February of this year: we checked in late at night and by the next morning realized the room, and the bed’s headboard, backed up to the elevator shaft, which made a racket starting early in the morning. Extremely unpleasant and impossible to get a good sleep. The reception staff was courteous but unwilling to help. Upon appealing to the manager, Mr. Trice, he issued a token credit. In the response to the previous-February review, the manager wrote: “I will be sharing your review with my Chief of Engineering in effort to ensure that no future guest share in this experience.” Here we are, the future guests with the same terrible experience. Based on the pricey room rates, we expected a nice, upscale hotel. Instead it felt more like a motel. In addition to the elevator noise, the room was poorly ventilated and stuffy, the AC was also noisy, the bathroom was outdated. The building is next to a gas station and a major local roadway. Although it’s labeled “Downtown/Historic District” the actual downtown is reachable by walking 10-15 minutes. The breakfast was basic. Overall, an overpriced facility with smart marketing.

We stayed here for one night in February 2024. There is valet parking for $30 a day or you can park on the street for free. Luckily we were able to find street parking on the other side of the hotel. That's when we discovered that the hotel is not very secure as the side door was just propped open as they are working on renovations to this hotel, so keep your safety in mind here while they renovate. Check in was fine. Our room unfortunately backed up to the elevator which we could here every time it moved and would ding. The worst though was the horrible loud noise the toilet would make refilling every few hours which woke us up throughout the night as it sounded terrible. Most of the room was fine, but the tub/shower was in major need of repairs, the tub floor looked disgusting from where the tub floor grips had been removed or worn off, the drain was wide open without a stopper and the faucet was literally hanging off the wall. Would I stay here again? No. Was the location good? Yes, it was easy walking to downtown.

Very friendly and capable staff. We were consistently greeted with smiles by staff members. Our room was very clean. Although there was a tear and worn area in the carpet by the kitchen. This needs repaired as it should not have been let go. The bed was very comfortable. We found the hotel location very convenient for our morning walks and the on street parking was very safe and convenient. This is a very pretty hotel and I encourage everyone to experience a weekend at this location.

The room was clean, smelled fresh and oh the shampoo..lol excellent. Staff was the friendliest I have met in a great while. Congratulations 👏.
