I have with my elderly mum stayed at the Wonderful Lea hotel on several occasions now for the past year and a half and we couldn't have found a more excellent hotel in Scarborough in our eyes. All The staff , the owners . The housekeeping , the chefs are just excellent nothing is ever too much trouble ,and the friendliest happiest helpful a**osphere greets you from the moment you walk through the doors . The choices of food for both breakfast and evening meals are excellent and faultless . The bedrooms are spotless and ever so comfortable I mean that truly !! We Loved the quality entertainment on in the Winter on some of the evenings too. All in all finding the Red Lea hotel was the best thing I ever did and Sara and Nick the owners are simply the best in making the Red Lea such a fabulous hotel for oh so many people such a wonderful happy memory of a truly fabulous stay or holiday in Scarborough ❤️ thankyou to you all

I have stayed at the Red Lea Hotel on many occasions to attend parchment craft workshops. The Hotel, as usual, was spotless and comfortable, the owners and staff welcoming and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The food is superb and the chefs are happy to tweak your meal if necessary.

Was so wide awake and couldn't sleep so called down to reception to the half awake chap. No room service, what a pity. Over all clean friendly. Perhaps you might want to introduce a night room service would certainly add points

I have stayed numerous times with work and the hotel is spotless, good friendly staff and great home cooked food. Family owned who obviously take great pride in their establishment. Even has a gym and indoor pool.

As always, we were looked after the best you could wish. We can't remember how many times we have been but it must be getting on for 10. We will keep going back, its just to good to miss. Thank you to one and all, Paul & Alison Hickman

i couldn't sleep too well as there seemed to be a scenty smell in the room not unpleasant lemony and a flashing light above the bed. l went downstairs night porter was on duty he said the smell was from the air freshener and he didn't know what the light was he did say he would investigate but I said my sister sharing the room was asleep. i have breathing difficulty and the scent was aggravating it i also found the bed uncomfortable and had to sleep on top of duvet. After a bad nights sleep we made use of the pool again not as big as it looks on the photos and the hot tub which was not hot although it should have been heated up before hand. The hot tub was one like you could buy for home and l noticed the wire to plug it in was across the tiles and a trip risk. We went down for breakfast we had been asked for a time we said half eight giving ups time to use the pool before hand and were asked could we do 8-45 we said yes we were shown to a table by the door l asked if we could not sit in the window there were about 4—5 empty two person tables we were told no l aske to speak to a manager nd was asked why I was told not enough time to turn the round l said but they are laid up. We took the one near the door but was a bit drafty The waitress asked if we wanted tea or coffee we said tea when she bought it she didn't bring any milk with her and turned away there was no milk on the tables. We called her back and asked for milk she semed to take some time the table next to us had vacated their table and there was a largish jug on the table l took that one and I was halfway through my tea when the waitress returned with a large jug abet this was big enough if we were having cereal but we weren't., One of waitresses l observed chatting with guest for about 15 mins not a problem if nothing to be done but during that time l observed her touch hr mouth her hair her nose a no no for waiting on staff After breakfast we spoke to reception about the room and scenty smell and he light and was told we kne you were going to complain as we have a couple of people mention we were rude to the staff we weren't l only asked about sitting in the table in the window we were then told that people had sat there all week and that was their table this wasn't explained to us I asked to speak with a manager the hotel owner was going past and took us to a function room and e told her our concerns. Re the bedroom no there was no air freshener contrary to what night porter had said and the flashing light was the fire alarm why didn't the night porter say this. When l asked she said oh has just the night porter which l felt was quite demeaning of him. I mentioned the breakfast incident and the tea and was told the waitress has only got two hands l said how many hands does she need to bring tea and milk as a waitress l only need two hands. When l mentioned the length of time it took to get the milk she said she had to go down to the cellar to get it em really why is

I went to Scarborough with a friend as part of a coach tour. We stayed for 4 nights. The hotel has a lovely cosy feeling - makes a change from modern chains. My room was very comfortable and the staff were extremely friendly and efficient. they took the trouble to remember where we'd been that day and ask about it. There was entertainment on in the evening - the one I attended was excellent - 2 good singers doing 50s and 60s songs which were great for a sing-a-long. The hotel is less than a minute's walk from the seafront. Would definitely stay again.
