A sunny Seaham day but dismal Inn Collection meal May 2024 So disappointed with Inn Collection lunch today. Yes, it was Bank Holiday Monday and obviously busy, understaffed, too, given the dining space. Perhaps the regular chef was not working. We arrived just before 2pm. But there is no excuse for what we were eventually presented with. My sister ordered ham and pease pudding stottie. Instead of ham there was a white meat which, after sending it back, she was told there was no ham so they had substituted turkey. Waiter suggested that they could remove the pease pudding and put gravy in its place. Not wishing to create a fuss she accepted the substituted turkey, which after tasting was actually pork. Incredible! Why did staff not let us know they couldn’t fulfil order after an especially after a 35 minute wait? Is that usual Inn collection restaurant service? My tabbouleh lacked four promised ingredients so ended up dry and bland. Surely if ingredients weren’t available someone would inform us? Again, is that usual for Inn collection? Even more ironic is that my sister and husband had just returned from two nights at your sister hotel at Ripon where they were delighted with service and quality of food. And they are off to your other hotel in Glenridding next month. I wanted to eat here to ensure a quality meal for my walking group next month but am anxious about restaurant service now. Can Inncollection management assure us that we’d get a better experience? Read less
