It's the same as when I came here eight years ago. But the level of the reception staff needs to be improved. I won't mention the specific unpleasantness. It has direct access to the bay. There are alpacas, horses and goats in the courtyard to feed.

Very well appointed accommodation with awesome sea views to enjoy from the deck just a short walk to such a beautiful beach. The room was super clean with modernised bathroom, great kitchen and super comfortable beds. Very friendly and welcoming.

Young gentleman at reception was fabulous! He gave us lots of tips on the area and where to eat. Room was fairly basic and had a beach smell about it. The bed was comfortable.

We stayed in an “A” frame cabin. It was short walk to the beach for sunset and across the road to see glow worms. Plenty of green space. Cute animals with clever write up in cabin information book. Could have easily spent another day here in Hoikitika

Units a bit worn, and noisy heater, so we used the back up heater we could plug in. Had Wi-Fi problems ,barely connecting ,when asking if this was normal,was told my iPad must not have a good antenna. Never had an issue till this stay at the shining star.

Stayed at the Triple Beachfront Room in June 2023. Room was ok but not much of sea view as the front was quite blocked. The win for this motel are the staffs. Friendly and accommodating, always smiley and approachable. Late night, we can just cross over the street to see Glow Worms. Magical sight you must see/do when you're here. Hokitika town is a short drive away. Location is good.
