We spent two days here between the end-of-year holidays, as a base near Hamburg, where accommodation prices had become completely unrealistic at the time. The hotel is very centrally located near the pedestrian zone, so restaurants and other shops can easily be reached on foot. There are a few (few) free parking spaces, we were lucky. The spaces in the underground car park would have cost money, the only advantage here would have been direct access to the building. The room furnishings are not the newest, but perfectly fine. The extra bed was quite hard, if that is relevant. Small criticism: there was a chimney running through our room, which made constant rattling noises one night (strong wind, some kind of flap?). We "survived" it. Otherwise, everything in the room was fine, from beds to power sockets, lighting, soap, shampoo and enough towels (not a given!). One selection criterion for this hotel was the wellness area, which we were also happy with. Bathrobes and towels were available at reception. Since the hotel is relatively small, the walk from the room to the wellness area is also quick in your bathrobe. The pool was available practically all day until late in the evening, was pleasantly warm and never overcrowded. Two of the three saunas were in use, unfortunately only from 4 p.m., but that was what was advertised. The changing rooms with attached shower were practical and in good condition. Breakfast was also to our liking, with a fairly wide selection for almost every taste. In addition to the basics such as various rolls and croissants, spreads and toppings, yoghurts, quark, hard-boiled and soft-boiled eggs and scrambled eggs (no gooey ready-made eggs), juices, etc., there was a self-service waffle iron. The breakfast room had plenty of space, despite the hotel apparently being well booked. Last but not least, the staff at the reception were always friendly.
