Stay away! We drive down from NY to FL twice a year, and we have stayed at several La Quintas and other hotels along I95. This was the worst experience we have ever had. After a 12 hour drive with two kids and two dogs, we made it to the hotel around 10pm. The smell immediately slapped us in the face when we opened the door to room 108. It was a noxious bleach and who knows what scent. Our eyes and noses burned. We thought that maybe it was just cleaned and the smell would go away. We did ask for another room, but the place was sold out. The guy at the desk did not seemed surprised that we were complaining about the smell, and he immediately refunded me. All other “decent” hotels were booked in the area, and we were too exhausted to keep driving. We decided to try to open a window. The window didn’t stay open, and we had to put a garbage can under it to keep it from crashing down. We sprayed the room with some Febreeze. My youngest son and husband went to get some food from the Waffle Hiuse next door, and when they came back my oldest soon and I were having trouble breathing. We decided that it wasn’t worth permanent damage to our lungs, and we took all our stuff and left. The female desk person, shifts had changed, just shrugged her shoulders as we walked out. We were content to sleep in the car, but tried the Quality Inn next door first. It isn’t as highly rated as La Quinta (so much for ratings), but it was clean and didn’t burn our insides.
