Kisura Serengeti Tented Camp

Now this is the life! Nothing like getting down directly in nature, one with all around us and animals all abound! We felt totally safe zipped up in our tents and secured. The camps were better than I had expected. After camping on Kilimanjaro, this was pretty awesome - wood floors, luxurious beds, hot showers, hot food! I slept like a baby even hearing hyena at night! Beautiful sunrise and sunset view. Super cool staff and very friendly! Good conversation and great beer and wine flowing. Far surpassed my expectations of luxury camping! Unique setup as electronics are charged in the main bar lounge tent and dining in a separate tent but this all seems like safety and to conserve energy as everything is run by the sun and generator. Really cool experience!

We had a 3 night stay at this camp as part of a 2 week safari tour. Driving up to the camp it really didn't look like much, but the tents were spacious, luxurious and very comfortable. The staff very accomodating, friendly and ready willing to assist you with any request where possible. It was amazing to hear lions roaring in the distance late at night and to see and/or hear some wildlife wondering near tents of a night. On departure we were treated with a song and dance by the staff to see us off on our way. Such a personal touch to a great place to be right in the middle of the African parks.

Magical 2 night stay in the heart of the serengeti with Mickey, Bob and co. Camp initially looked basic but looks can be deceiving. Tents were fabulous, en suite, hot showers, and comfortable beds. Hot food and packed lunches were excellent. All 11 of us including 7 children were given the warmest of welcomes. Farewell party had us all singing and dancing at 8am as we departed for northern serengeti. Absolutely fantastic experience.

If you want rose petals on the bed each day and Michelin star dinners you should look for something else. If you wish to be in nature rather than looking at nature this is the perfect place. No swimmingpool and no luxury, but ideally placed for game-watching with very friendly, welcoming and serviceminded staff.

Gold Star 5/5 for service! Location: surrounded in the wilderness in the middle of the Serengeti and you can hear the hyenas at night, but we felt safe. Staff was very assuring of our safety and we followed rules to not leave our tent unaccompanied. The beds were so comfortable. I had probably some of my best sleep there! Electricity in room for lighting is okay/dim - but it's a tented camp. You do need to power your electronics and use wifi in the bar tent and they do have limited access to that but we did not know that ahead of time of arrival as we booked through a tour company. But we made it work! Just come prepared with external batteries for your electronics! Showers have limited hot water and unfortunately other guests abused the water and used up all the hot water our first night but we had hot water the next night. Bathroom is clean and nice. We felt completely safe including all of our belongings. The staff are very hospitable and want to make sure you are safe and have a good time. They even went to the market to get a wine that we liked without asking because they knew we liked it. The food was very good. Unfortunately, what's a trip to Africa without some food disagreement. They made sure I saw a doctor in the Serengeti and got medication and they tended to me and rearranged some tour I had. They were so very kind and warm! Genuinely good people. I would absolutely recommend and trust these staff. This experience was a good one for Tanzania. I'm sad to say it was ruined by a hotel in Zanzibar but my memory here was beautiful. I have only a few phone photos since my camera and entire trip pictures were stolen by Gold Zanzibar staff in the locked room at the resort in Zanzibar :(
