Golden Tulip Shanghai Hongqiao Yankuang Hotel

I requested a high-floor room but was assigned a lower floor instead. The room had a strong smoke smell, and I noticed that the smoke detector had been blocked by a previous guest. The bed was dusty and felt unclean. The overall value does not match the price — nearly SGD 100 per night. Breakfast was disappointing, with very limited choices, and I was even served a spoiled yogurt. Additionally, my key card didn’t work on some of the lift card readers, which was quite inconvenient. Overall, it was a poor experience, and I would not recommend this hotel unless significant improvements are made in cleanliness, maintenance, and service quality.

This hotel was great. I loved the sizes of the rooms and the bathrooms. My only issue is, there is no control of indoor smoking. Other guests will be smoking indoors with the fumes seeping all the way throughout the corridors. Are smoke alarms that difficult to install? What’s the point of getting a non-smoking room if people in other rooms are just smoking throughout the entire time? That’s definitely something that needs to change because if it’s a five star hotel, this is supposed to be a standard.
