Choosing the City Hotel this time was a great decision. Check-in was smooth and the service was excellent. Our room on the sixth floor was quiet and comfortable, and it came with drinks, afternoon tea, and a late-night snack. Plus, it's right across from a foreign language bookstore, and just a short walk to Nanjing Road and the Bund, making the location very convenient. Overall, I'm very satisfied.

This stay truly exceeded all my expectations – a definite five-star rating! From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I was captivated by the elegant yet welcoming atmosphere. The front desk staff were incredibly professional and enthusiastic, making the check-in process efficient and remarkably pleasant. The room itself was spacious, bright, and impeccably clean, with soft, comfortable bedding that guaranteed a great night's sleep. The in-room amenities were also excellent; from the smart control system to the high-quality toiletries, every detail showed the hotel's thoughtful approach. The hotel's breakfast was equally impressive, offering a wide variety of delicious options. Whether it was traditional Chinese dim sum or Western pastries, there was something to satisfy every guest. Furthermore, the hotel's location is superb, offering incredibly convenient access to attractions like the Bund, Lujiazui, and Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street. Excellent dining and shopping options are also just a stone's throw away. Overall, from its facilities to its service, this hotel demonstrates exceptionally high standards. It's an excellent choice for both business travelers and leisure guests. Next time I'm in Shanghai, I'll definitely choose this hotel again and highly recommend it to all my friends!

The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. There are many attractions nearby. The front desk service was good, and the room facilities and hygiene were excellent. They even offered thoughtful late-night snacks and a self-service afternoon tea.

This hotel was a nightmare. On our second morning, we found the room crawling with ants. When we told the front desk, they said our only options were to move to a smaller room or have them spray for ants while we were out, because there were no other rooms available. We had no choice but to pack up our belongings and move rooms. We were only staying for 3 days, and having to spend time packing and moving was a terrible experience. On top of that, after ordering takeout, it hadn't been delivered to our room after 20 minutes. When I called to ask again, the front desk said it was because we hadn't collected it from the robot delivery downstairs. But we never heard any doorbell in our room! And shouldn't the first thing they do when the robot returns downstairs be to contact the guest and ask why they didn't collect it? The front desk staff were incredibly arrogant, constantly blaming the guests, and their proposed solutions were completely unhelpful.

Facilities: The hotel has a gym and laundry room, which is sufficient for a city hotel. The location is very close to the middle section of Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, and it's about an 8-minute walk to the subway. Cleanliness: The overall cleanliness is good, especially since it's a new hotel. Environment: There's a foreign language bookstore across the street, which is a great place for kids to spend time when it rains. Dining options nearby are also very convenient, and delivery from many popular restaurants is very fast. Service: All the staff are very enthusiastic. Since I don't drink beer, they even swapped out the beer in the mini-bar for soda water, which was a nice touch. Complimentary Late-Night Snacks: You can enjoy late-night snacks every day, though we only went once on our first night after arriving from the airport. They offer noodles, rice noodles, etc. – a very thoughtful service. Single Buffet Afternoon Tea: We didn't get to experience the afternoon tea at all, as we were out exploring. Breakfast: Most standard items are available, and the food is replenished very quickly. Issues: During the transition from winter to spring, the air conditioning for cooling hadn't been activated yet. On the first day, I asked the front desk and they said it was still unified heating. So, we didn't have AC during our stay. Luckily, the temperature in Shanghai wasn't too high these past few days, otherwise, the room would have been quite warm. When checking out, the front desk staff member mentioned that after our feedback, the cooling function was made available, but no one informed us, so we were unaware of this.

Location: 9/10. It's about a 7-minute walk from East Nanjing Road, and about 10 minutes from two metro stations. Taxis are also quite convenient. If you're looking to be right on a pedestrian street, you might be disappointed, but for someone who dislikes excessive noise, this location is perfect. There are plenty of food options nearby, so I wouldn't recommend booking the hotel breakfast – or at least not for every day. Facilities: 6/10. The room isn't huge, but it's a good size compared to other places nearby. If you visit during the wrong season, the room can get stuffy. The window opens, but it's tiny, so no air gets in, and since the central air conditioning can't turn off the heating, even a breeze wouldn't help. The shower room is small, with nowhere to hang clothes, so be aware of that. The bed is comfortable, and you can request a comfier pillow, which is a nice touch. Service: 8/10. The hotel staff, from the front desk to service and the restaurant, were all excellent. When I complained about the stuffy room, they immediately bought a standing fan for me. While it didn't help much, their sincerity was full marks. I would have given full marks for service, but at check-out, the front desk repeatedly asked me for a 5-star review, even offering a small gift (which was already mentioned in my booking) and free taxi assistance. This made me quite uncomfortable, and I declined. I strongly suggest hotel management avoids using these tactics to get perfect scores. Overall: 7/10.
