On my second stay with this hotel, I ventured further into local neighborhood and found some affordable restaurants. If you go out the front turn, turn left, and go across the light, there is a nice little restaurant. The rooms with windows and air conditioners are much more comfortable than some of the smaller rooms. The subway, a McDonald's, and a KFC are all within a short walk. The Hotel staff is very friendly and hopeful. The TV works, the bed is comfortable by western standards, and the pillows are comfortable too. I slept well.

After all, it is Shanghai, and every inch of land is worth a lot of money. In the old Ximen area, this price must be like this. It is understandable. If you pursue cost-effectiveness, you can choose this. If it is lower, you can only find a youth hostel. And the location is also good. You can walk to many attractions or ride a bike to get there, and the subway entrance is not far away.
