The hotel's theme is fantastic! From the lobby to the guest rooms, penguin elements are everywhere: a giant penguin sculpture at the entrance, penguin animations in the elevators, and penguin-themed cushions and carpets in the rooms. My child clapped with excitement the moment we stepped in, as if entering a mini Antarctic world. No need to entertain the kids; the environment itself provided endless entertainment.
Our booked Penguin Family Room was incredibly spacious, and the bunk bed design was very thoughtful, with a safety rail on the top bunk, so parents had nothing to worry about. The room also included dedicated children's toiletries, small slippers, and a step stool. These thoughtful details made our stay with the kids incredibly convenient and hassle-free. Plus, it's just a 5-minute walk to Haichang Ocean Park, meaning no rushing in the morning. We could return to the hotel anytime we got tired, which is incredibly convenient for families with young children.
The staff were very enthusiastic and proactively greeted our child. We even received a cute penguin plush toy as a welcome gift in our room. The hotel restaurant offers a kids' menu with generous portions and mild flavors, which our child thoroughly enjoyed. The only minor suggestion is that during weekends, the hotel can get quite crowded, and there might be a short wait for breakfast during peak hours. We recommend going at off-peak times.
**Important Notes:**
1. **Check-in/Check-out:** Check-in time is after 3:00 PM. If you arrive early, you can store your luggage for free at the concierge desk and take the Penguin Express for priority park entry. Check-out time is before 12:00 PM the next day; remember to return your room card on time to complete check-out. If you wish to request a late check-out, you can inquire with the front desk in advance. However, approval depends on the hotel's occupancy on that day.
2. **Park Tickets:** Please check the ticket policy based on your child's height in advance. Children entering the park require an ID number for verification. Children under 1 meter tall or under 3 years old (excluding 3) enter free. Children between 1 meter and 1.4 meters tall, or aged 3 (inclusive) to 11 (inclusive), have varying ticket prices depending on weekdays and peak days. Those over 1.4 meters tall or aged 12 and above are charged the full adult price. During your stay, you can register for facial recognition at the hotel's front desk for unlimited park entry and exit over two days. Make sure to keep your relevant credentials safe.
3. **Dining:** For breakfast, children under 1 meter (excluding 1 meter) eat free. Children between 1 meter and 1.4 meters (excluding 1.4 meters) are 49 RMB per person. Guests 1.4 meters (inclusive) and above are 98 RMB per person. These prices are for reference only; the actual cost will be confirmed at the front desk upon purchase. The restaurant can get crowded during peak meal times, so we recommend going during off-peak hours.
4. **Transportation:** The hotel provides a free shuttle bus service to and from the park. Follow the official 'Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park' WeChat account and send 'Penguin Express' to check shuttle schedules. Buses depart every 10 minutes, but actual times are subject to on-site conditions. If driving, hotel guests can use the dedicated underground parking lot for free during their stay. Remember to register at the front desk upon check-in.
Overall, considering its theme, family-friendly amenities, and excellent location, this hotel is perfectly suited for family trips. We'll definitely choose this hotel again next time we visit Haichang with our child!
