Located at stone’s throw away distance from the main market and restaurants- obviously not in a scenic place but the atmosphere is tolerable. Clean rooms and sumptuous breakfast options will make your day better. Reception staff and service were very helpful. Overall, value for your money.

My family and I (a group of 11) recently stayed at the Taj Vivanta Shillong, and it was truly an exceptional experience from start to finish. If you are planning a trip to Meghalaya, I cannot recommend this property enough—it is the perfect base to explore the entire region in comfort and luxury. What truly sets this hotel apart is the team’s dedication to guest hospitality. A special mention to the General Manager, Gaurav Kumar, who went above and beyond to ensure all 11 of us were comfortable and well-cared for throughout our stay. The attention to detail was remarkable. The check-in and check-out process was seamless, thanks to Mercy and Phiba, who handled everything with such grace and efficiency. The laundry team also deserves high praise; they managed to remove some incredibly difficult stains and maintained a prompt 24-hour turnaround on every item. As we were traveling from South India, the culinary experience was a highlight. The Chef and Sous Chef went to great lengths to tailor every lunch and dinner to our tastes and sensibilities. It was such a thoughtful touch that made us feel right at home. We also thoroughly enjoyed the authentic local Khasi cuisine offered at the hotel. A huge thank you to the MYnt restaurant manager, Abhishek, and the fantastic service team—Fela, Fredrick, Sayoo, Livingson, Kritika, and Ambika—who anticipated our every need. They even went the extra mile to prepare delicious picnic baskets for our excursions, ensuring we were well-fed while exploring the beautiful sights of Meghalaya. To the entire team at Taj Vivanta Shillong: thank you for making our family trip so memorable. You have set a new benchmark for hospitality. We look forward to returning!

My wife and I stayed in Vivanta Shillong. This is a nice hotel located in the middle of a very happening part of the town. The hotel itself is neat and tidy and the rooms are well designed. We had to change a couple of rooms before we got a room of our choice. The thing is, Vivanta’s location is right in the middle of construction work next door and a bustling market around it. As such getting a room with a good view becomes an issue. However, Ambika from the Front Office was kind enough to find us one such room. The hotel is located in a busy part of the city and has several sights close to it. This hotel has a very quaint restaurant that has a skylight on the top. With elegantly designed seating and a buffet spread to match, it is a great place to catch up on a meal. Service by Fela, Darisa and Chenille was great, although we also came across a couple of F&B persons whose service left a lot to be desired. Mithun the F&B Manager was very helpful as well.

Perfect location close to the market, check in was smooth, deluxe rooms are very good but superior rooms are really cramped and very small in size (could not get deluxe room on 1 night as the hotel was sold out). Food is good but service needs to improve and staff at the restaurant needs to be more professional. Overall it’s one of the best in Shillong!

The Good: The standout feature of this property is undoubtedly its proximity to Police Bazar. Being so close to the heart of the city makes it incredibly easy to explore local markets and reach various central points without any hassle. The Not-So-Good: While the location is excellent, the hotel itself felt underwhelming for the price point. Room & Layout: The rooms are quite small. A major design flaw was the bathroom, which lacked a partition in the shower area, leading to water spreading across the entire floor—a bit of a safety and cleanliness concern. Noise Levels: Soundproofing is a significant issue. I could clearly hear conversations from the hallway and neighboring rooms even with my door firmly closed, which made for a less-than-peaceful stay. Facilities: I didn't see a gym or a pool on-site, and if they do exist, they certainly aren't highlighted. For a premium brand, these are usually standard expectations. Dining: The breakfast spread was quite limited. There wasn't much variety, which was disappointing for a morning meal at this tier of hotel. Verdict: Ultimately, it feels like you are paying 5-star prices for what is essentially 3-star infrastructure and amenities. If you prioritize being near the market above all else, this works, but don't expect the typical luxury experience usually associated with the brand.
