Shipton Grange House

We booked this accommodation for 2 nights June 15 & 16, 2022 using points from TD for *******. It was very difficult to find, signage is poor. When we arrived the owner "Ann" said we booked the double ensuite and it was £500 per night and she didn't know what points were or *******. We did not stay there and had to find other accommodation and it was after 5pm at that time! The grounds are beautiful if you can get in, however, you have to ring at the gate to have "Ann" come out, when she hears the bell, there are 2 very large gates she has to open manually which appeared very difficult...Ann appears to be in her 90's. When we entered the building it smelled very strongly of dogs, which she has 5 of. I would not recommend this place and feel it should be removed from ******* before anyone else books it!!

We stayed here for two nights and we’re very disappointed. I think the problems were caused by lack of staff mainly. There was confusion over our booking, our room was not ready on time, the shower was broken and the blocked drains caused a bad smell. Breakfast was disappointing and when we paid the balance of our reservation in cash there was no paper for a receipt.

Ann was so welcoming and we really enjoyed our stay. We had a double room with a private bathroom just along the corridor. Had known about this when booking and therefore packed dressing gowns. Really lovely place. Sadly didn't get to meet the dogs that live there though. We met Katie in the morning, who helps run the B&B, she was lovely too.

We stayed here this weekend just gone. Ann and Katie were simply lovely and the house is beautiful. We stayed in a double room with private bathroom just along the hallway. Was aware of this so brought dressing gowns with us. Ann has dogs, but I sadly didn't get to meet them.

Firstly let me start by saying I review honestly but all my reviews are my opinion and how I feel about that certain place. We booked a double room from 21st Sept 2021 to 23rd Sept 2021, this cost us £200. We arrived at shipton Grange House and found it quite easily but that was due to reading the reviews about the green gate, which is the entrance. The hosts do take ages to get to the gate but the chap had recently had surgery so we understood. He showed us into the courtyard and the garden and building from the outside were lovely with beautiful gardens. As we walked into the house we were hit with an extreme smell of dogs. It was very overpowering and was really rather disgusting. We were taken upstairs to the double room with private bathroom that we had booked. I don't know how to describe it! Unless you saw this room with your own eyes you will never believe and know how horrendous this place is. I took pictures but they really do not show how bad it is. How ********** allow this property to be sold on their website is beyond me. The headboard was heavily stained where people rest their heads, Mouldy blinds, mouldy window frames, brown stained and filthy duvet inside the duvet cover, filthy carpets with black stains, something that looked like blood, hair , dead flies and goodness knows what else. We were asked what time we wanted breakfast and that we'd be joined by the dogs while we ate our breakfast, ermmm, what? We politely declined breakfast and we were then left in our room. It was at that point we decided to leave. We jumped in the car left the key through the letter box and sped off to find somewhere else. So you cant check in before 5pm, not sure why so late when we were the only guests (I can understand why) check in between 5 and 9. Told to leave the car on the pavement outside the gates for convenience, fair enough. If you're booked into this guest house, cancel and go somewhere else. I am writing this review from a wonderful, clean and comfortable hotel which we have has ro pay another £200 for. This is, as for many our first break away for the last 2 years, my husband is military and I'm a key worker so this is a much needed 2 night away break. Shipton Grange House should be removed from every website as it is very run down, dirty and I've never seen anything like it. ********** should be ashamed. Please please read reviews on Google where many reviews say turn around and don't go, i wish we'd listened.
