The Lamb was a friendly, pleasant hotel with good food. We had an evening meal as well as breakfast which were both very enjoyable. We met with friends there and there’s also a nice sitting area outside. They were short staffed the night we stayed, and one of the guys working, did a tremendous job, and kept a smile on his face. The room was really nice, clean and had a really comfortable bed. Bathroom was well equipped and had a good shower. We were in room 2 which is right above the bar, I don’t think I’d be to keen on it if I was staying at a weekend, as it is quite noisy. Fine midweek though, as once the bar closed it was peaceful. All in all, nice place, nice staff, in a nice old village, which was pleasant to walk around.

My fiancé and I had the most wonderful stay at The Lamb Inn, and it will always hold a special place in our hearts because we got engaged during our visit! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcome. Everyone was incredibly friendly, warm, and genuinely hospitable, which made our stay even more special. The location is absolutely perfect for exploring the Cotswolds. Nestled in the beautiful village of Shipton-under-Wychwood, the inn has all the charm you hope to find when visiting the area. It feels cozy, historic, and quintessentially Cotswolds, making it the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. We’re so grateful to have celebrated such a memorable milestone here, and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. We can’t wait to return and relive such happy memories. Highly recommend The Lamb Inn to anyone looking for an authentic Cotswolds experience!

The location is really good for what we wanted. We were heading to the Cotswolds Wildlife Park which is less than a 15min drive from the Inn. The atmosphere was cosy and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was a little small considering we had our dog with us, but it was manageable. The bed was super comfy. The shower was really good and we really liked how they had decorated. It was modern, but it still had an old style feel in places. The room was clean for the most part, but unfortunately there were a few strands of hair stuck on the tiles in the bathroom (it can be seen in the photo I took of the shower head if zoomed in). We did mention this to the staff member downstairs and they were very helpful. They rectified it right away, took a photo of it and offered for us to change rooms. As we had already settled, we didn't want to change rooms, but we were given a complimentary hot breakfast that is not included in the standard price. We didn't have any issues with noise level, yes music or people could be heard wandering about, but it's an old, popular pub. It didn't bother us. We really enjoyed the food that was prepared and it seemed to be a slightly different menu the two nights we stayed. I did say that the burger was a little too pink for my taste and they couldn't have been more apologetic about it. They gave me some bread to have while I was waiting. They did offer to keep my husband's food hot, but I didn't mind if he carried on eating and I waited. Like I have previously stated, we took our dog. He's a bigger dog and very placid and didn't care if other dogs barked at him. I say this because the space is limited, so if your dog isn't able to cope being in close proximity to other dogs, it may not be the place for you. One dog was under the table opposite us and they did leave because their dog just kept barking. Neither dog's fault, it's just unfortunate that the tables are quite close together. All in all, we did really enjoy our stay at The Lamb Inn and we would happily stay again and would recommend it to others. The one piece of feedback that I forgot to write on the card they gave us is - please install a bin or poo bin outside for poo bags as there wasn't one anywhere in sight and as it is advertised as dog friendly, I would think this is a necessity. When we asked the staff member on duty he grabbed a bin bag from out the back that we could put it in, so again they really did try and help.

I stayed in Room 3. These rooms are directly above the pub and restaurant. The noise was so bad in the room, you could hear every single conversation and the restaurant looked fully booked. I literally felt I was actually in the restaurant. Thankfully, I did take some ear plugs with me otherwise I would have not been able to get to sleep until way past midnight. Even with the TV turned up loud, you could still hear the noise. I am so glad my company paid for this accommodation because I would have not wanted to pay this myself. I did provide feedback and of course the response was “we can’t do anything about it” I understand it’s a very old house, however, the noise level is certainly not acceptable at all. There are more rooms which were situated in another building which were of course much quieter. . The room itself was nice. Was very cold and i had to turn the heating up as it was turned off. The dressing gown they provided was handy to warm up. The shower was hot. A bit strange that they had a small wooden stool in the shower which looked a bit mouldy from all the water. I personally would remove this from the shower, but to be honest, this was the least of my worries. The breakfast was included in the price, however there was only toast, croissants with jams, prunes and some granola and some juices. If you wanted a full breakfast you had to pay an additional £6/£12 and there were some additional hot items that you could pay for. Please be aware that some of the bedrooms had showers and a toilet in the actual bedroom, so not separate. If you asked me would I stay here again, my response would be 100% no way due to the noise levels. The restaurant and bar looked very nice and I’m sure that would be a lovely experience for the evening. The staff were lovely.

Such a shame as it’s a lovely location but the Sunday roast was very disappointing. Shoulder of lamb dumped like a car crash in the middle of the table so we had to ask for tooldt to carve it with…. Young lad run off his feet bringing various veg dishes none of which were up to much, forgetting the gravy which came in the smallest gravy boats I’ve ever seen. The roasties were reasonable, a small bowl of soggy spinach and a large underdone carrot each is not really up to what you’d expect for the price. Some cauliflower cheese would have added flavour. The staff were nice but we had to wait ages for the exorbitant bill. Wouldn’t bother going back with so many other much better options in the area. A few small tweaks would make it far more appealing but it feels like they don’t really care, which is a shame,

We booked here after being recommend this hotel. Check is was fine - we had room 3. Well thats directly above the bar, you hear all the music from about 8am to 11 at night. You can hear every conversation and even the tv. The TV speaker is directly below the room. Not what you want when you go to bed early or just want to chill in your room... The room was lovely and spacious, no stand alone bath like there was in the photo, which was disappointing. Bathroom nice, however the shower gels etc is on a soggy wooden table in the shower. Again further soggy wooden shelves above the sink. We had an evening meal here the first night, which was fantastic. The burger & fish and chips were delicious. However breakfast the next day was not as great. Continental breakfast consisted of some cereal selection packs, croissants (if there's any left) and some yoghurt. Oh and to mention the very cheap sad looking bread. We chose to order a hot breakfast - paying the extra. However the bacon sandwich looked very sad, just cheap bread again. It would have worked out cheaper to order just bacon on the menu and to use the bread from the buffet.... One morning we came down to one crossiant- we asked if there was any more (it was only 9am at this point) to be told "not sure". No attempt even made to check with the kitchen. We went out to a local bakery then paying £12, for pasties... Positives - the hotel had a great location, not far from diddly squat, the farmers dog, hawkstone brewery, bourton on the water etc. Bed was very comfortable and large - nice selection of pillows. Our room was only serviced once during out 3 night stay. I feel overall I feel this place is in a great location however I would not stay here again.

Wonderful village location in the heart of the Cotswolds. Friendly attentive staff and nothing was too much trouble. Comfortable bed and pillows. Slept soundly. Delicious food. Very clean rooms. Just the most wonderful few days shared with friends. So many beautiful places to visit within 15 - 25 mins drive of pub.

I booked a table for dinner to celebrate my sons 21st. A family get together. We are not local so it was based on recommendations from the owner of the holiday cottage we were staying in. Our table was in a middle room which was a bit of a thoroughfare but had a lovely fire. All the food we had was delicious except the steak. Three of us had the halibut which was exceptional, beautifully cooked. My partner had the steak frite (£30), it was cold, chewy & served as 4 small strips. With hindsight we should have sent it back but didn’t want to upset what was a very jolly evening! The staff were very attentive & friendly. The birthday boy had a lovely evening 😊

We were on a whistle stop tour to the area. Booked The Lamb Inn on the day. On arrival we were shown to our room (room 9). Ground floor, double bed very comfy, flagstones with some rugs covering. Bathroom perfectly fine, lovely waterfall shower, beautiful shampoo etc which had a spa type smell. Nespresso style machine in the room and a kettle and some delicious cookies. The room wasn’t noisy at all except a door slam at 2am by another guest 🤦🏼♀️ We ate in the pub had a delicious pizza (which was half price as it was Sunday) and a burger. I’m quite surprised by some of the reviews it certainly didn’t reflect some others experience.
