Upon arrival, the reception looks lovely like a boutique hotel should. However, this is the first and last boutique part of the hotel. When we got to the front of the queue to check in we were met by two quite abrupt receptionists who seemed very disinterested at doing their actual job, and looked my other half up and down like we did not belong in the hotel, possibly because we’re a young couple and the hotel seems more “geared” towards the middle aged and family’s. This then continued when he went back to the front desk a few hours later and asked for an extra toilet roll and coffee pods. To which the lady behind the desk said ‘well that depends’ very abruptly, even though the guest book in the room says to ask reception for this, (you’d think he’d asked for a pint of blood). He had to speak quite abruptly back for her to have any respect for him and realise she’d crossed a line, manners don’t seem to exist in the reception of this hotel. Not to mention we had no hand soap in the room either and although the room looks nice at face value, it is not worth the money, we did only stay in a premier double so this may be the reason, but it is supposed to be a boutique hotel. It does need an update, including smart TV’s and comfortable beds, the beds are large but not very comfortable. The bathroom also wasn’t great, the tiles were mouldy in places and mis-matched. Not to mention the very decorative toothpaste stains from the previous guests on the taps... gave it a real “homely feel”. As well as all of this, there was also a party which went on until 1 in the morning, at-least (we know this because this is when we eventually got tired enough to fall asleep). You’ll either love or hate this hotel and I am quite disappointed I wasted my money on it. As well as all of this, when we asked if we could eat food in the room the receptionist replied “yes, just pick your phone up, call me and I will bring you food from the bar, that’s room service” like my partner was a delinquent. After such an abrupt welcoming and rude responses. You’ll be shocked to read we decided not to spend another penny in the hotel. Instead we went out elsewhere for food, so I cannot comment on the bar or food in the hotel. However, when we went in for cutlery to eat our food from the local Chinese, the bar staff were more than happy to help and were friendly… they could give the receptionists some tips.
