Booked to stay locally so we could celebrate my partner's birthday and visit family. We were allocated an accessible room without being advised beforehand that this would be the case. As we are both tall having low sinks, beds etc made it uncomfortable. If we had been advised beforehand this was a possibility we would have booked elsewhere. We asked to change but were advised this was not possible. The hotel is very tired and run down and needs refurbishment. Bathroom also needed a good clean. Room smelt musty and windows covered in condensation which probably explains why they were open when we arrived. Sadly I cannot recommend staying here although the staff were nice and friendly. I have images if you would like to see them.

Our room and furniture was very worn, toilet ran continuously, some lights didn’t work and we were woken at 2.30am by noisy guests running around and banging goodness knows what, it’s a problem when you have children who then can’t get back to sleep. Also we were placed at the back of the hotel which is nearest the road and the traffic noise was bad throughout the night, the double glazing didn’t help.

Stayed here for 2 nights in March. The room was a good size and in general clean with the exception that the suitcase shelf was thick with dust, there were coffee/tea stains & spills over the doors and door frames. Clearly nobody had bothered to check for standards of cleanliness before we arrived. There were also coffee stains all the way up the stairway to our floor which were still there when we left after 2 days. The shower in our room was broken with the mixer taps not operating properly. We did report, but unortunately nothing was done, so gallons of hot water was wasted when we attempted using the shower. The fabric of the building inside and around public areas was in a poor state and floors were dirty compared to many other Travelodges we have stayed in this year, was definitely in the poorest condition. This one needs a complete refurbishment. Outside in the car park was messy and dirty also, although not sure if that is down to the Traveloge, but certainly doesn't enhance the appearance of Bayston Hill. Staff were mainly noticeable by their absence. We only saw someone on duty when arriving and once on our first morning. We have definitely had much better Travelodge experiences. This one didn't stand out!

Upon arrival we were told we couldn’t check in early as our room wasn’t ready, which is fine. We understand rooms may still be being cleaned. When we checked in just after 3 we entered our room which smelt very strongly of smoke, the floor hadn’t been hoovered, there were items from the guests before that we found in the room. 3 items under the bed including a diary/address book with personal information in, in the wardrobe space behind the spare pillows we found an empty cigarette packet (in a non smoking room), a notebook was left on top of the wardrobe space. The bathroom has soap in the bath, the shower curtain was mouldy and there was empty sanitary packet on the floor behind the bathroom door. It was clear to see that the room hadn’t been cleaned at all other than having new bedding put on the bed. There was also sugar granules on the desk and couple of dark hairs. We spoke to the receptionist on duty, Emma. She was lovely, she came to view the room and take photos of the items left behind. She took us to another room which again hadn’t been hoovered. Another 4 rooms and we finally found a room that was clean and actually ready for guests. All in all 6 rooms were tried but not cleaned properly, one room had coffee stains all over the desk, another had previous guests items in the rooms. I’m not normally a picky guest, but this was ridiculous. Emma dealt with our complaint very professionally and calmly. Thank you Emma for helping to make our stay more comfortable and finding us a room suitable to stay in. Having previously worked in a chain hotel, I know the standards that rooms should be for arriving guests and these rooms do not meet these standards. It is clear to see that the housekeeping team are either expected to do way too much for their shift or that they just aren’t doing their job properly. Also from my personal experience in the hotel industry the AM shift staff should be room checking before house keepers finish in order to ensure that all rooms are to standard this is clearly not being done. Really do feel Head Office needs to pay a visit to this hotel and raise the standards a little, yes it’s a budget hotel but still there should be some standards here. Will not be staying here again.

I have stayed at this Travel Lodge several times.the reason i prefer to stay here over the other hotels is the staff are truly amazing and always go above and beyond and nothings too much trouble for them. The rooms are always spotlessly clean. Ryan the manager is worth his weight in gold as he really pulls the team together to offer the residents a very pleasant stay. I have and will continue to highly recommend this hotel to all my Friends and family. Well Done Ryan and all of your Team it’s a 10/10 from me 💯

The hotel is good. Personnel were really nice and friendly. Room was clean and big and well illuminated. Check-in and check-out were fast and simple. Big, free, easy to access parking. There was not a single issue on my visit. Would stay again with no doubt.

The staff is very friendly, no problems while checking in and out. The rooms are very very old in Bayston hill and definitely needs to be renovated as I also stayed at Bristol central Mitchell lane and the room was very modern. I do not recommend to stay at the Bayston hill unless the rooms are renovated.

The receptionist was never actually in reception, the rooms are looking tired. The car park is waiting for a rodent invasion. It is what it is for the money, don’t expect the Ritz. Cheap and cheerful just about describes it.
