Windemere Hotel & Conference Center

Horrible hotel. I was scheduled to stay for four nights and checked out the next morning. The first room they sent me to hadn't been cleaned (someone had stayed in it). The second room was just inside an outer door that was supposed to have key card access only. The key card access was broken so they propped the door open all night. I'm a women traveling alone so I felt unsafe the entire night. There was a semi-truck parked outside my window and it was running all night long and LITERALLY my bed vibrated all night long. Then the air conditioner rattled loudly every time it kicked on and scared me out of sleep, ALL NIGHT LONG. I was too tired to have to move to another room. Even with all of the lights on, you could scarcely see, it was so dark. I only slept a few hours and woke up bright and early to check out. Free breakfast was a joke. No self-serve (which I'm ok with) but no cereal, milk, pastries etc. The had a cook that could make you eggs and pancakes but it was so dismal looking in their "dining area" I just wanted to get out of there. I DO NOT recommend this hotel. For a few dollars more a night I found a Best Western that was 100% better.

My wife and I stayed at the Windemere for 6 nights as part of a tour group. We travel a lot and it's hard to think of a more depressing place. It is clean enough but this property lacks any semblance of TLC. The heating system is a disaster; there is no way to regulate the temperature so you either sweat or freeze. Breakfast is appallingly bad: no healthy choices, out of basics such as cereal or milk, bananas showed up on day 3 and were gone by day 5 and the person manning the area could simply say "I can only offer what I have". Not even lids for the coffee cups! The front desk staff are well-meaning but clueless. We had a reservation for a king room but they gave us a queen saying that was all that was available. Yet after complaining, housekeeping found us a king in minutes. I asked for a power adapter because there are insufficient plug-ins in the rooms to handle all of our electronics and was greeted with a shrug. Even on check-out the staff had a difficult time figuring out our bill and they had to email it to me after a manager showed up in the evening. This is a very depressing and disappointing property.

I stayed here on a tour with others. The hotel was very dirty as was the room. It didn't look as though anyone had vacuumed the room for months. I used the shower tub combo but while showering, I noted a ring around the tub, I checked to see if this was a water stain, but NO, it was scum!!!! This was inexcusable. On Friday February 4 ,I was to receive a wakeup call at 9 am but the phone never rang. I called the front desk and she apologized. This too was inexcusable. There was no means by which to schedule your own wakeup call via phone and there was no clock radio. Good thing I always use my cell phone as back up. There is a pool, but not heated. The previous jacuzzi was turned into a grassy area.
