The hotel is located at a corner with very high traffic. The entrance is strange, you feel as if you’re entering through an alley at the back of a warehouse. You then have to go up a ramp. Once you get to the top, you find a small area shared by a very large condominium called Vue. The front of the hotel was full of cars. but the young guys in valet service were excellent, very friendly and professional. We did not see the option for self-parking, so we paid $45 per day for valet parking. We were checked in by a young lady with short blonde hair. The room was not ready. Since we’re Marriott platinum elite members, we asked her where was the M Lounge so we could wait there until our room was ready. She asked us what was the M Lounge. We explained this is a lounge for elite members where we can have drinks, breakfast etc. She replied “we don’t have one, we’re part of the brand, but we are more like a local hotel”. We said okay and decided to go to the rooftop bar to wait. I turned around to walk away, then my husband sees her roll her eyes up and laugh with the other lady that looked like she was in training. That was rude and very immature. We thought best to ignore her and move on. We went up to the rooftop bar and had some drinks. It’s not a big area and most of the seats were under the sun so a lot of people were standing close to the bar. When they called that the room was ready, we went to get our key. Lucky for us, she was not there and a very nice guy took care of us. That night we wanted to eat at the Evoq restaurant located on the first floor of the hotel, which is where you also go for breakfast. We called to make a reservation and the lady that answered did not understand us and replied “sorry I no speak English”, so we made the reservation on open table. That was odd, but as our stay went on, we realized that a lot of the staff in the restaurant and housekeeping does not speak English. Some try, but others just tell you “sorry no English”. We reviewed the restaurant under their page, the food was very good and our server George was very friendly and professional. The room looked nice, but there is a lot of dust in some areas that feel sticky, especially on the outlets next to the bed and the one below the countertop. I don’t think they ever clean these things. The phone definitely does not get cleaned because otherwise they would see that the cover needs to be replaced and some buttons are missing. The greyish color of the towels was concerning. Marriott is well known for their soft white towels and their comfortable mattress. Maybe the condition of this hotel is because they are really a local hotel and not a Marriott brand, as their check in staff let us know. The next morning we went to Evoq for breakfast, hoping for the same experience we had the night before. After we were seated, a very friendly lady came to take our order, but when we told her that we had breakfast included (this was our choice instead of 1,000 points)
