Nous avons eu la surprise de passer 2 nuits dans cet endroit magnifique choisi par notre agence South India voyages Madurai. Ancien palais,bien restauré qui fait de ce lieu un endroit magique. The hotel is located in a hundred-year-old building built with great opulence by a local businessman made good using expensive imported materials - wood, tiles, marble etc. Room was very comfortable and bathroom facilities clean though a little rudimentary. Generous portions of tasty food.

What a fantastic place. The amazing location is great for a gentle walk around the town. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The activities were great. Definitely do the cooking experience. Would definitely return. We used the pool which is a short walk from the hotel, but very refreshing. Great stay

Nous n'avons testé que le restaurant, avons regretté de ne pas y avoir dormi. C'est un endroit exceptionnel, magique avec une cuisine raffinée. Je garderai un magnifique souvenir du manager, gentil, à l'écoute, plein d'humour avec vraiment le sens de l'accueil. Je le remercie chaleureusement des conseils et recettes de cuisine et d'avoir à cœur qu'on soit bien. Je recommande cet endroit hors du temps

Absolute heritage mansion with basic modern amenities. Rooms are medium sized . No TV , internet was bit slow (I think it's BSNL BB). 4G coverage also will be feeble. Only the one portion of mansion is open to public .Could have been better if they allowed access to whole property.Overall well maintained retaining the old charm& Glory. There is an in-house restaurant till night. Dishes are mostly catered to non spicy pallette(even though we requested spicy ) , you won't get that authentic taste as in the chettinad mess's outside kanadukathan. Staffs are really amiable .Bicycles available for roaming around(free) also they would arrange Bullock cart ride (chargeable) , a chettinad museum and virtual walkthrough of history (both we skipped) you can enjoy. Even though free visits to two other nearby mansions were mentioned by mansion staff ; those housekeepers were demanding 50₹ per head entry fee(would be a waste of time and money so we skipped).We visited athangudi palace. Parking is limited to 5cars . Street lights are scarce in the entire block ( park at your own risk outside premises). If you plan to stay in kanadukathan this is the only heritage option others are all reconstructed properties .

Véritable havre de paix hors du temps. Décor colonial authentique et fonctionnel, avec une âme chaleureuse à chaque instant. Personnel très accueillant, dévoué et attentionné. Superbe dîner précommandé servi dans un hall digne d’un décor de film. Passage obligé!

I visited this place in 2004. A kind gentleman named Mr Chandramouli (owner living in Spore) showed us around. He was in the process of converting part of the mansion to a 'homestay'. Is this the same mansion? Mr Chandramouli told us to return ...I would to very soon! Jonathan
