Our 3rd time back to Pier Head in the past 12 months ... and it certainly won't be our last! We always enjoy a lovely stay here ... friendly & efficient staff ... beautiful views from the rooms ... and super comfortable beds. Mullaghmore is such a beautiful, tranquil location for an overnight break, and if the weather isn't on your side for a beach walk & sea swim ... a visit to the hotel pool is always a good option. Last, but by no means least ... the view from the restaurant is one of the best you'll find! Looking forward to returning again in the not too distant future!

I'm a regular visitor to the Pier Head Hotel in Mullaghmore. I just love Mullaghmore and the wonderful views but sadly I won't be staying at the hotel again. From the moment we got there it was No! No wifi in the bedrooms,no bar food after 5pm, no residents' bar, no gym, no TV reception. Unfortunately, there's no other hotel open in Mullaghmore so there's no choice! That's the reason they don't have to bother. Untimely it will be their downfall!

Cant justify the prices of €150 for the limited services this hotel offers. The toilet bowl was dirty there was no brush so had to look at someone else’s mess for the night not even a teabag for a cup of tea in the room or shampoo these are the standard little things us people who go around travelling ireland appreciate. For anyone that likes a to stay up after midnight pier head close they’re bar when the Owner decides, I asked for 2 glasses of Guinness & 2 bags of tayto at 12.07 on a Friday night to be told we are closed (standard liquor licence in any pub in Ireland is 12.30 that’s not even the residents hours) then the manager to tell me we are finished serving , and when I explained we are residents, to be told we don’t do a residents bar, the best laughs was the young man that served me was going to get me the drinks his manager stopped him and the young man came back to tell me I can’t give you the drink but I can give you the crisps are you kidding me!! €150 for a twin room I wouldn’t ever stay here again It’s frustrating because where this hotel is this place has so much potential and could be an amazing hotel with amazing food and staff and offer so many services and bring so many people to mullaghmore all year round not just summer time. That would mean a complete new ownership by the looks of things

We've been coming here for years but with the pandemic we missed the last 3 years. Sadly the hotel seems to be in decline. The bar food (which was usually a highlight) has gone, now you can only eat in the dining room and the menu has very few choices and sky-high prices. The free WiFi has gone and the breakfast was cold and very limited, with small plates to make you think you're getting a lot. You could have white or brown bread, no croissants, muffins, danish etc with a cooked offering of rock hard bacon, thin sausages, rubbery scrambled egg, fried potatoes and beans. The room we had was a small box with a double bed shoe-horned into it. It was too warm to sleep and the small child-lock window barely opened. There was a constant humming from the light circuit, but if you turn off the main light power you had no lights when getting up in the dark. The mattress felt like it was made of Lego and the whole room was very basic, with a view of the car park. We had received an email before we arrived stating that due to COVID customers would not be allowed to change their automatically-allocated rooms after arrival, so rather than spend another night in the room/sauna and face that breakfast we ended up going home a day early. All in all a very disappointing and expensive waste of time and money.

My husband and I took my 88 years old mother away for a hotel trip, staying at 3 hotels down from Donegal to caven, our 2nd stop was the peir head hotel mullaghmore .the fact I was wheelchair bound as I let them know before travelling, they put in a poky small room,it was a good walk to the lift with no offer of help, the breakfast delivered to room at extra, was very small and poor choice, the receptionist was nice a dark haired lady, but the younger woman who seemed to be in charge was pig ignorant When I tried to explain about the room size. Anyway we left the next morning off to our final hotel the lake side hotel in Virginia cavan, when we got there I realised my wallet was missing I rang the pier head hotel constantly for the next 3days only to be told they were still looking for the wallet, needles to say our holiday was ruined I had €1000 euros in it.they rang me the night before our last day and said it had turned up,,no explanation. We had to drive the whole way back to get it,and no one available to let us know what had happened other than it was in the tiny room we stayed in. It was a nightmare for us all,I wouldn't take a free stay at this very unpleasant place. Mullaghmore it's self is very beautiful and worth the trip. Mrs m D'ARCY

I keep going back to this place. I love the hotel and love the location. Just back from 3 nights stay. To begin with the room was lovely and clean, double bed and a single with views of the bay. The friendliest staff from reception to breakfast & restaurant staff. They couldn’t do enough for us on our stay. So pleasant and friendly. Breakfast staff gave us a lovely table outside the first morning as the sun was shining. Next 2 morning a table by the window and a chance to see the dolphins. The restaurant in the evening was lovely and the food was delicious. I had the chicken and husband had the steak( said the best he’s ever had). Next night we had dinner again. You have to try the monkfish. Again absolutely delicious. Definitely try a cocktail in the restaurant. Thank you all to the staff, you went above and beyond (especially Clara) Can’t wait for my return.

Called in for lunch, only soup & sandwiches available. Had to look for someone to take order. They didn’t write order down, but how hard would it be to get three plain ham toasted sandwiches wrong.. well they did and was was even burnt. Service was slow.

Hotel has lovely sea views, fast friendly bar service. Receptionist was so helpful. Room was basic enough to look at but a very comfortable bed and the room and bathroom were spotless. The cocktails in the restaurant were amazing and my friend had the carbonara which was lovely. The waitresses were a lovely bunch! Clara, Tessa and daisy as well as others , all friendly, helpful and great fun !! Breakfast was fab located in restaurant over looking the sea we ate outdoors on the terrace... plenty to eat The location itself is just fabulous couldn’t complain about view Met few of the locals too and they all seemed friendly.

Hotel is in the most scenic are with spectacular views. Staff were lovely and restaurant manager really went out of his way to help us and make sure the entire group was happy! Kids had a great time down at the beach which is right on their doorstep. Room opened on to a terrace with table and chairs which was a beautiful spot for morning coffee. Already booked for next year!!
