Wilderness Hotel Muotka & Igloos

A fantastic experience. Accommodation, activities, staff and food all 1st class. Wonderful winter activities led by passionate and patient team. Got to see the Northern Lights on final nights which was “the icing on the cake” I cannot recommend this hotel experience highly enough.

Really lovely place to stay, out in the wilds. There are lots of activities arranged by the hotel (at a price!) so you really don't have to go anywhere else. The hotel is beautifully decorated inside with a permanent Chris**as theme (maybe not in the summer months?) The kitchen and dining room staff were excellent - so friendly, efficient, cheerful and helpful. My one criticism is that the reception staff did not help us take our luggage to our cabin and gave us poor directions as to how to find it in the snow and the cold and with the sun almost down. We had to drag heavy sledges full of suitcases ourselves and weren't sure exactly where to go. Paying so much per night for our stay, I would have expected our bags to have been taken for us. Also, our cabins were almost the furthest away possible from the main hotel building and, as a slightly older guest with some health issues (I can't walk very quickly and have some breathing issues), I would have preferred to be a bit nearer. I shall know to ask for a cabin nearer to reception next time, though the hotel says they can't guarantee a particular cabin when requests are sent beforehand. On that, the pre-stay help was also very good. The activities coordinators answered my many questions very patiently. My final comment is the activities are expensive compared to other providers in the area, but the guys who lead them are exceptional, particularly Pablo and Sara on the snowmobile reindeer farm trip.

What an incredible weekend we had. We have no complaints! It was the perfect weekend between relaxing but also enjoying the thrill of snowmobiling and hunting the northern lights. The hotel staff were absolutely amazing. Even though it’s the end of the winter season for them (and they are tired) they still gave us such an amazing experience. Every single guide we had was such a delight. I highly recommend and hope we can come back again one day! The food was amazing as well. I will say, snowshoeing was a little more physical than we anticipated, but was still so fun!! Nothing but a good workout (that we needed after eating all the yummy food) We appreciate the staff and the hotel for allowing us to see such a wonderful place!

We just returned from our stay at Wilderness Hotel Muotka, and it far exceeded our expectations! We were fortunate to see the Northern Lights 4 out of 6 nights, and some of them were truly spectacular displays. Our aurora cabin was amazing, and we found ourselves wondering if this was real life as we watched the lights dance across the sky while lying in bed at night. We booked the Winter Adventure Package, and all of our activities and guides were wonderful. The food was excellent as well. Thank you for making our trip to Finland so incredible!

Experience of a lifetime in this wonderful place. The surrounding are spectacular and so beautiful. It’s very peaceful. The log cabin was very cosy and the bed extra comfortable. The fire was definitely a plus! We chose the aurora package and all the activities were amazing! We were very lucky to see the northern light too. Friendly staff and good food too. Would highly recommend!
