We enjoyed our stay at the Oceanfront Hotel in Sointula especially the view from our balcony. We watched the ferry come and go and watched the sunset. Check in was prompt. There were not any restaurants open in Sointula after 2:30, so be sure to take your own food to heat up in the microwave.

If you want a great view a comfy bed and friendly people this is the place. Sitting on the balcony looking out into the ocean and listening to the waves is awesome. The time we went was ont of season and on Easter. Siontula only has a grocery store, Coho Joe's and Malcolm Island foods for eating and the grocery store is closed on Sunday and Monday. Coho Joe's is only breakfast and lunch. Malcolm Island foods is take home cook stuff. The hotel does have kitchenettes and a full kitchen available for use. If you want new and convienent then this is not for you, but if you want comfy and great atmosphere I highly recommend.

I had the good fortune to visit this wonderful community for a work trip and had the most amazing stay at the hotel. The room was super comfy, the view could not be any better and the relaxation was incredible. The patio directly above the water was so comfortable and the sound of the waves at night was perfect. Wonderful experience

I had the most wonderful stay at the Oceanfront Hotel on Malcolm Island. Robin and Ray were so nice, immediately responding to every need. I loved my room which was designed like my home, instead of a straight line like big hotels. They also had extra amenities like a heated towel rack and heated bathroom floor! The hotel also has a neat little museum room. I especially liked the view of the waterfront and wide ocean. The hotel didn't just meet the needs of visitors to the island. I watched locals making use of the hotel services also. I like this hotel which was one of the highlights of my visit to Malcolm Island.

This was an incredible stay with an exceptionally welcoming environment/staff. Sointula was a random stop on a road trip & after one day I never wanted to leave the Island. We booked the night before we arrived. I was getting ready to book online & called to have a few questions answered. The nice lady answered my questions & then took our info & reserved the room. I offered a credit card number but in true Canadian coolness she said to simply provide it when you we arrived. The room was reserved based on trust between strangers, this was the beginning of a short but very wonderful stay. Our room was clean and essentially on the water. We left the window open and fell asleep to the sounds of waves. The community kitchen provided us an opportunity to cook up a feast for breakfast and dinner. The island was very laid back & people very friendly. Bare point was a last minute discovery & a very nice surprise. If we had not already booked a whale watching tour in Telegraph Cove we would have extended our stay. In summary, Sointula is a gem that is not yet full of tourists. A combination of camping at Bare Point and a longer stay at the Ocean Front hotel will be a part of our next visit to the Island.

What a great little hotel and very friendly local vibe! The rooms were clean and well stocked so forget about wanting a Hilton cookie cutter hotel and enjoy yourself in this beautiful little hotel in a beautiful little town on a beautiful little island!

Comfortable and well maintained. We got a friendly and helpful welcome.. We were just yards from the water and we could safely leave our kayaks just above the high tide line. One added benefit for us (obviously, can’t guarantee this for everyone) while having morning coffee we got to watch a lone sea otter commute to its clan. It liked to swim on its back. The little town of Sointula, its island and the adjacent island with Alert Bay all have fascinating histories. We’ll certainly return.

Pleasantly surprised with how quiet the hotel was, impressed with the view and conveniently situated right next to the ferry terminal. Would stay again for sure, can't beat coffee on the balcony, even on the fogged in mornings. There was such a calm vibe surrounding the town. The museum is chalk full of awesome history and artifacts and only a 3 minute walk away. Locals are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Looking forward to the next visit and seeing more of the Island!
