Seymours on Lydiard

Room was clean and comfortable . Location was good and having the North Star Hotel on site was very convenient for dining

I have stayed at Seymours on multiple occasions. The personnel are wonderful to deal with, very helpful and obliging. The rooms are very spacious, extremely clean and well resourced. The room I routinely stay in has a spa and which is splendid. There are full cooking facilities in the room(s) that I have stayed in, parking on site and sleep quality is really good given that the location of Seymours is quiet. The property is close to transport, eateries, shopping and all else that Ballarat has to offer. I will happily return to Seymours when I am next in Ballarat. dee

The room was terrible and needs to be completely refurbished and renovated. It was the absolute low point of some regional travel we made in April 2024. 1. The place was generally quite dirty and dusty. 2. The shower door did not close properly and was very dirty at the bottom of the door/shower. And it leaked along the back wall. The water disappeared into the floor and there is water damage showing on the roof of the carport below. 3. The spa door was held shut with black tape. 4. Inadequate cutlery is supplied e.g. one teaspoon and the draw was dirty. 5. The blind on the window between the bedroom and the bathroom was broken. 6. Curtin cords were hanging together with a thread. 7. The microwave did not have all its legs and was sitting on a piece of dirty foam. 8. There was a plastic blue cover on the couch and cushion which made the place feel like a crime scene. It was absolutely horrible. 9. The WiFi just did not work. 10. There are no power points near the desk or table. 11. The table had a horrible brown mark on it. 12. The bedside table was all marked making it look dirty and there is only one bedside table. 13. There was a lot of noise from the hotel on Saturday night making it difficult to sleep. 14. And even the Do Not Disturb sign was held together with sticky tape. Hotel management did not respond to concerns made directly to them. Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else.

The location here is perfect – a few minutes from the railway station, and only 5-10 minutes walk from the main city centre. There is an excellent pub next door and a very pleasant cafe over the road. Although I’d booked a “standard room” it felt more like a small apartment – with a sitting and dining area, a good size kitchenette (microwave, huge fridge, gas hob etc … no oven) and a big bathroom. The wifi was good and I found the bed very comfortable. A few small negatives … My room was next to the pub and the sound-proofing was poor so I could hear music (though not late and not excessive). Also, the room and furnishings were a little shabby in paces and in need of some maintenance. So it’s 4 stars instead of 5. But I’ll certainly consider staying there again.

Everything you could expect from accommodation that would normally cost twice as much, rooms designed for customer ease and comfort, with spotless cleanliness. I cannot find a single issue with Seymours on Lydiard and they can put us on there regular guest list now. Steve and Ellen.

The couch was very uncomfortable and the second night was very noisy , several times after 12 o’clock glass emptied into bins , very loud talking in car parking area.Asit was not cheap we were disappointed.

Place is very tired. Needs a reno. Spa bath is good. Good location. Close to train station. Split system air con and a good sized fridge with microwave too. Daily service. Kitchen sink. Bed comfortable. Power points in all the wrong places, not near work desk areas. BUT a bit rough around the edges. Pleasant staff. So a mixed review from me. Not sure if we will stay here again.

It’s not a very good motel sadly. The best thing about it is the location. It’s only a short and very pleasant walk into town. It’s also beside a fantastic and really well run pub. That’s where the good things end though. The rooms are a bit down at heel. They’ve seen much better days and look like they weren’t that flash when they were last renovated. The place is way overpriced for what’s pretty much a 2.5 star room at best. We love Ballarat but we will stay somewhere else when we visit here next
