Just back from a week staying at Aminta. The pros: The hotel is extremely clean and well maintained, and the staff are courteous, warm and friendly, especially at breakfast and the gentlemen helping provide towels and umbrellas around the pool. The pool area is lovely and quiet with plenty of available sunbeds. The beds were very comfy, and the Alexa in the room was a nice touch. The breakfast was fine, if a little repetitive - there was a lovely fruit salad available on our first day, which never appeared again which was a shame (maybe it's only there on Saturdays?). The shuttle bus is a welcome service, as the hotel is quite a way into the mountains, though I did wonder why it didn't run over lunchtime or between 9.30pm and 11.30pm which felt like peak times. The cons: As I said, the shuttle was a welcome service as the hotel is set quite a way from town - we walked it twice and it took roughly 30 mins, but I definitely couldn't do it on a very hot day, nor would I want to do it in the dark. Because of the hotel's location, there isn't really anything else around, which meant on the days we spent by the pool, we were restricted to eating lunch at the hotel - I found the food to be quite overpriced for what it was. In the room itself, the curtains didn't quite meet to block out the sun, and there was nowhere in the bathroom to hang up your towels. The shower could have been more powerful. My biggest gripe however feels quite minor, but it did bother me quite a bit: for a hotel that claims to be environmentally conscious (signs in the bathroom not to waste water, reuse towels etc), they replaced the toilet roll every day, even when the roll was half used. This feels very wasteful to me. All in all, this was a fine hotel as a base in Sorrento, but should we return to Sorrento, I think I would prefer to stay more centrally to give ourselves more flexibility in visiting the main restaurants and port area.
