This is the first time I have been compelled to write a Trip Advisor review. But if the business if going to improve it needs to listen to feedback. I was attracted by the proclaimed ethos for home grown and locally sourced produce. But other than the excellent breads for the starter, quality ingredients or cooking did not feature in any of the three meals at our table today. The bread was very nice, the hummus a little thin on taste but no cause for complaint. Moving swiftly on to the main courses. I had the 'crispy' beef salad - that was greasy and tasted slightly rancid - sitting in a deep bowl of plain dry vegetables and chilli. No care had been involved in throwing that dish together. It is the first meal out in years that has upset my stomach. The Steak and Mushroom Pie had no mushroom, but according to the kitchen was just a steak pie (contrary to the menu). The diner picked her way through but left a lot on her plate. The Ox-Tail was underdone and would not come off the bone. I again went to the bar to flag up this problem, and the response was to offer to take it back to the kitchen and cut it off. Clearly the thinest sinewy cut had been used for the dish, which had also been undercooked. A sprinkling of spring onion on top could not compensate for this. The young staff were clearly less than interested in the customer experience, and no one asked how the food was, but worryingly the kitchen had little concern either. Funnily enough, no one finished their main dish and no one wanted to risk a desert. This might be a fine pub for a pint after work and bar snacks, but otherwise prepare to manage your expectations. It was an expensive mistake I won't be repeating.
