Food at this pub is excellent. The rooms are very peaceful and clean, the staff are friendly and welcoming, I would stay here again. Highly recommend this place.

My family and I enjoyed a marvellously informal Saturday lunch in this charming country inn. A real log fire made up for the absence of leaves on the trees outside. Staff were friendly and helpful without being over-effusive, and it was lovely to see a couple of good ole' boys enjoying a beer on stools at the bar in time-honoured manner. That'll be me, one day, I hope! It was clear that the delicious food was made from carefully selected, wholesome, ingredients, many of them local - not sourced from an industrial wholesaler. In fact, I was even greeted outside by landlord Dan while he was working over the vegetable patch that supplies his inn. Thoroughly recommended - why can't every village have at least one inn like this?

The tastiest Sunday Lunch i can remember in a pub, the beef was tender and the yorkshire pudding absolutely amazing. The staff were delightful and the atmosphere 1st class. I highly recommend and will be looking forward to returning as soon as possible.

If you see two prices on the menu, go for the higher one as the lower price is like a kids portion, truly unbelievable. I had fish and chips, the chips were bigger than the fish, in fact the batter was bigger than the fish, it came on a small oval plate and would have just about been OK for a 7 year old. What a complete rip off. I didn't want a giant piece of fish or a stack of chips but something smaller, well, I certainly got that! On a positive my boyfriend had liver which he liked and it was a warm cosy pub.

This is the first time I have been compelled to write a Trip Advisor review. But if the business if going to improve it needs to listen to feedback. I was attracted by the proclaimed ethos for home grown and locally sourced produce. But other than the excellent breads for the starter, quality ingredients or cooking did not feature in any of the three meals at our table today. The bread was very nice, the hummus a little thin on taste but no cause for complaint. Moving swiftly on to the main courses. I had the 'crispy' beef salad - that was greasy and tasted slightly rancid - sitting in a deep bowl of plain dry vegetables and chilli. No care had been involved in throwing that dish together. It is the first meal out in years that has upset my stomach. The Steak and Mushroom Pie had no mushroom, but according to the kitchen was just a steak pie (contrary to the menu). The diner picked her way through but left a lot on her plate. The Ox-Tail was underdone and would not come off the bone. I again went to the bar to flag up this problem, and the response was to offer to take it back to the kitchen and cut it off. Clearly the thinest sinewy cut had been used for the dish, which had also been undercooked. A sprinkling of spring onion on top could not compensate for this. The young staff were clearly less than interested in the customer experience, and no one asked how the food was, but worryingly the kitchen had little concern either. Funnily enough, no one finished their main dish and no one wanted to risk a desert. This might be a fine pub for a pint after work and bar snacks, but otherwise prepare to manage your expectations. It was an expensive mistake I won't be repeating.

We were looking forward to lunch with family and friends but Food mediocre at best, very expensive and poor service - not good value for money - will not come back. Doesn’t compare with the excellent White Hart at nearby Nettlebed.

On 1st January we visited the Cherry Tree. After a long and beautiful walk through stunning countryside. We and a party of our closest friends plus dogs spent a fantastic time at the Cherry Tree where we ate delicious food well beautifully presented and drank wine cocktails and beers and socialised with the most charming locals. No matter how exhausted Dan and Nat and the staff, must’ve been after New Year’s Eve. They never showed it constant smiles. Nothing too much trouble. The perfect hosts. They even went to the trouble of providing us with the most delicious Malay inspired fish soup before retiring with two happy dogs to our accommodation, which was perfect, beautifully decorated clean and a gorgeous bathroom with high pressure, shower and bath. We couldn’t have asked for more . In the morning, there was breakfast in front of a roaring fire. We recommend without reservation the Cherry Tree, five star. Thank you, Dan and Nat And Freya, and of course, The Beautiful Stinky (Hound).
