Clean facilities great view from the room overlooking the 18th hole on the golf course keeping us entertained during our whole stay!

I was the only guest who was staying over the weekend for a wedding, asked to settle my room bill on arrival. I asked was this normal procedure as I wanted to charge to my room and they had my card details when I made the booking. I wasn’t given a straight answer and couldn’t be bothered to argue. My only guess it was because of the I look.

Wow what can I say... I was anxious coming here after reading some of the reviews but I shouldn't of been.. it was brilliant.. we arrived earlier so we could have lunch we sat on the patio over looking the golf lunch was so nice... we then went to our room which was over looking the golf course the room was spotless 👍 we then went for dinner in the restaurant it was really busy and Katie couldn't apologise enough that the food was going to be a little wait which was fine by us as we don't like to be rushed.. it wasn't even that long.. Katie was lovely 😍 thanks Katie.. we then went in bar and watched and listened to the singer which was great.. This stay was so great that we asked if we could stay an extra night but it was fully booked 😕😕 but next time we will definitely be staying 2 nights.. Thanks for making our night amazing 👏

We usually stay at Formby Hall once a year as a treat to ourselves as parents of three young children. This year we booked a spa stay for 1st June. We enjoyed the massages, use of the pool and the restaurant service in the evening was great. The young lady with the long blonde hair and claw clip was exceptionally helpful. We headed back to our room to enjoy a full nights sleep (a rarity with three children so very much eagerly awaited). We fell asleep around 12am and were awoken around 1am by guests returning from the days wedding. Firstly, we heard a young child running up and down the hall way and being chased by an adult. Secondly, a group of men and a squealing woman congregated in the hallway and decided to carry on the party. Banging, shouting, laughing and screeching. We lay listening to this for a short while, hoping the guests would say good night and go to their rooms. At 1.45am, I emailed Reception, telling them about the racket and how this was supposed to be a ‘relaxing spa stay’. I tried to call Reception multiple times but the phone kept ringing out. I really did not want to have to pass a group of men whilst in my nightwear to walk down to reception but I had to as I couldn’t get hold of anyone. Around 2am I reached the reception desk to report what was going on. I was told I was the second person to come and complain and they had told the guests to move along. On my way back to my room (118), I spotted one of the restaurant staff hauling a travel cot into the room opposite us. This lead to doors opening and closing and causing more noise. I don’t understand why a travel cot wasn’t in the room already if needed. Moving one in at 2am seems ridiculous? We eventually got to sleep around 3.30am and checked out at 9am. I explained to reception what had happened again and was given an email to contact for someone to reply to me on Monday. As a couple with little money, this spa break cost us a lot. It seems such a wasted and ruined experience and we left this morning feeling really sad. We look forward to this every year and usually feel rejuvenated. This time we feel absolutely shattered and left more tired than we arrived.

Breakfast was a strange experience ..asked for brown sauce only for the waitress to walk up and dollop 2 large spoonfuls on my plate ....not what i expect at a 100pounds a night ..no buffy breakfast as not enough people in ! Not that impressed tbf

I’m so disappointed with our resent Spa weekend. Lots of the spa facilities weren’t working, the steam room upstairs and downstairs by the pool, the jacuzzi wasn’t working and when I questioned why we weren’t informed beforehand, I was told it was on the website, why would I check the website before I was attending, when it was all booked! They should have sent an email out! And more shockingly there were ants at the poolside. When we went over to check in I highlighted the issues to the lady behind the desk as a manager wants available and she thanked me for letting her know, no apology or empathy, just an Insincere ‘thank you so much for telling me’ That evening we had a lovely meal and went back to our room, I was excited to have breakfast in bed so I filled out the form and hung it on the door about 10:00pm. In the morning about 9:30am when we’d ordered breakfast, it didn’t arrive so we waited till about 9:50am and I said to my husband you’d better check to see if it had gone, low and behold it hadn’t!!! I rang reception and they said they pick up the card and bring up our breakfast. When it arrived there were items missing, the continental breakfast, when I asked the girl, she said I wasn’t told about that! There was no sugar for our tea and we had to ring reception again and to add insult to injury the cleaner knocked on our door at 10:50 to kick us out when check out is 11. These might seem like small things but when put together and you take into consideration the amount we paid it’s not the service we expect! We spoke to yet another manager who made false promises and still hadn’t contacted us! Don’t waste your money go to a spa where All the facilities work, there’s no ants, you get all of your breakfast on time and you don’t get hussled out of your room before check out!! On a positive note the ladies that provided the treatments were amazing!!

I attended a golf society weekend as we have many times before. The modernisation of the hotel and the course condition is faultless, alongside the food. However there were several red flags also on this trip. Firstly I am most disappointed at the management in relation to security and cctv not working on the car parks. Somebody crashed into my car and drove off (which was parked directly in view of the 2 cctv cameras) I expected the cameras to be working especially parking next to the captains and professional parking spot. Management took over 3 days to inform me that no cctv was working so that I could update the insurance company. I would assume this would have been pointed out at the time of arrival and I also see this as a duty of care for the customers property on their land. I understand cars are left at own risk but don’t show cctv 24 hours when it clearly isn’t. The management were only made aware that the cctv was broken because of my incident. Surely this should be checked daily?. It took many calls to finally be given the information that they couldn’t provide any help to the insurance company/police. Secondly there was several parties at the hotel they were disappointed that due to being very short staffed the bar areas had to close by 11pm on both Friday and Saturday evening. We were told we can take our drinks and finish them in reception. I think that to not be able to finish your drink in comfort when we have paid for a service is poor, due to the staff levels. We found a lot of the drinking areas were full of empty glasses and dirty plates. This is a shame as we have been coming here for over 12 years for many family occasions and golf weekends.

This was amazing, great room with views right on the golf course, breakfast was amazing and so pleased!
