When you first enter the hotel you feel welcomed a great atmosphere , I’ve been in hundreds of hotels this is one of the best , easy check in our room so clean and a good size . Dinner was first class and the breakfast one of the best I’ve ever had , so friendly staff , The next morning owing to my difficult walking they transferred us to a larger room with walk in shower bigger bed , at no extra charge , great views from the bedroom with see views , easy walk into town and to south pier , hotel opposite hovercraft to Isle of Wight , We will be back but next time we will stay longer, Mr and mrs Layzell 28th to 1st may

We had a two night stay to attend a wedding. The rooms were tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. Every member of staff were polite ,friendly and efficient. Very good value for money. A special shout out to Amanda who was wedding coordinator. What a star ! There’s someone who knows her job!

We stayed at The Queen's Hotel five years ago and we were enchanted by it's faded glory. This was a return visit to see how the renovations were progressing. The reception is fantastic and the dining room very stylish but I shuddered at the choice of stair carpet. Still you can't please everyone can you? 😉 I loved the vintage black and white photos on the stairs and along the corridors. They kept me busy trying to work out who they all were! We had a small sea view room overlooking the outdoor seating area as well as the sea. It wasn't open while we were there but is apparently close to being finished and will be a great place if the warm weather ever comes. Breakfast was great and the Full English was exceptional. We had a meal in the restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed. Great service from very helpful staff in all areas

As a child, I always wanted to spend a night at the Queens Hotel. My experience here turned out to be everything I had ever wanted and more. My day began with Sunday lunch in the 1865 restaurant to celebrate my grown up son's birthday. The choice of food and the quality was excellent. The customer service was exceptional with Frankie catering to our every need. The ambience and surroundings were perfect with the added bonus of the musician playing jazz music. The superb customer service continued when I checked into my room. Abby and her colleague were so friendly and approachable. The room was perfect with a dual aspect looking over Southsea Common. Even the bathroom had a view! The quality of the finish and furnishings was high and the room was very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and the surroundings conducive to a good nights sleep. All in all I felt thoroughly spoilt. Breakfast the next morning did not disappoint. There was a good varied choice of both hot and cold food and Jesse ensured I had everything I needed. The Full English was very tasty and clearly used good quality products. The Queens Hotel is a truly beautiful building and it was wonderful to spend so much time in it. Thank you very much to everyone involved in my stay.

Disappointing and living on its past glory. Booked a superior double for one night as we were attending a wedding. The room was clean but not very big, overlooked the streets. The shower cubicle was small, the taps were missing hot and cold and dripped. No toilet brush. The pillows were not very comfortable, too bulky. The overall impression was that the room needs painting. The hotel seems understaffed, generally staff were pleasant and helpful. There are no Porters so taking luggage up and down , if you are older, is not easy. Reception staff were not particularly welcoming and contacting the hotel by phone is very difficult. The entrance has two pot plants with dead shrubs in, not very welcoming. Breakfast was good but bar sandwiches made with ordinary sliced bread, not very appetising. Overall for £272 we did not feel we had value for money, five star prices for a 2 star experience.

Once again, a lovely stay at the Queen’s Hotel. Clean and superbly decorated. The service was excellent. The evening meal was fantastic. Breakfast was enjoyable - maybe not quite up to the same standard as during previous visits. Good view from the room.

After being away from Portsmouth for thirty years I was excited to return. The hotel was impressive to look at and it didn’t disappoint when we entered through the front door. The decor was beautiful. Check in was quick and easy and the receptionist was super friendly. The stairs going up to the second floor are beautiful with the stain glass windows a delight to look at. The room itself was a superior double seaview located at the front of the hotel. Though small (a bit of a squeeze getting around the bed) the decor was lovely and was very classy. The bathroom was beautiful with a spacious shower. We had a view looking out over the front of the building towards the road, grass and then finally out to sea. It was lovely. If I had to mention one thing, it would be the pillows. No pillow protectors and I would expect better quality pillows to match the rest of the high standard in the room - that’s just my thoughts. We did sit in the bar for a hot drink on Sunday morning. It was a lovely setting though I did feel the staff present could have been a little more smiley. This is a small grumble in what was a wonderful stay at the hotel. I would thoroughly recommend anyone to stay here. I certainly hope I get the opportunity to stay again in the future.

Booked afternoon tea but ended up with a lunch menu. This did not bother me as I’m more of a savoury diner so preferred the lunch option. The food was extremely under whelming and under seasoned. The potatoes was over cooked and tasted like it had been sat for a while. The staff were absolutely lovely here just a shame the food wasn’t as exceptional. Would return for a drink only.
