Fairfield Inns are mostly good, so I’m reviewing for this trip. At the most inconvenient time, it was discovered there was NO toilet paper in the room. Two toilet paper holders side by side on the wall — empty. I tried calling the desk, but the phone didn’t work. When I went down, I was told that the cleaning staff had been stashing toilet paper. And that they had to take it on faith that they supply the rooms. No. This is not a valid excuse. There’s such a thing as oversight, especially if there is a known problem. I told him they ought to not give the maids any toilet paper at all, and just hand out a roll at checkin. This may not sound like a viable solution, but from my point of view it’s better for the guest than being trapped on the john with no tissue in sight. There were no little shampoos etc, either, but I always bring my own anyway. I have to say that I’ve stayed in some pretty awful hotels/motels in my life, but never until today was toilet paper absent. Another complaint: there was a photo of a pool and jacuzzi on the Springdale Fairfield website, but when we got there, we were told that the jacuzzi had been filled in for a long time. For that alone, I won’t come back, but that’s just me. I choose hotels with jacuzzis, which are wonderful after a day’s driving.
