Hilton Garden Inn Springfield, IL

Hotel is quite old and old fashioned interior, but rooms are clean and staff is attentive and friendly

My husband and I were at the Hilton Garden Inn two nights. We found it to be a really lovely property--clean, everythng in good repair, excellent bed, spacious room with everything we needed or wanted and a wonderful staff, all of whom were cheerful and eager to help at every moment. There were a few extra amenities which were a nice touch, among them fruit-infused water and warm cookies in the lobby in the afternoon and coffee in the lobby in the morning. They even have small cafe that cooks food to order along with a bar, open til 10:00. The cafe has a small menu--mostly pub food type items--but it is certainly convenient. One caveat--this hotel offers a beautiful, enticing breakfast buffet--better by far than most mid-range hotels--but it is not free. So this is not the place to grab a bite upon leaving, and expect it to be covered by your room price. We loved "coming home at night" to this lovely place and would stay here again, if ever in the area.

Lobby is very nice and updated, we stayed on 3rd floor and carpet is very old and dated. Bed was comfortable but bathroom was very outdated and in need of complete update. Breakfast not included but lobby did offer flavored water and warm cookies in the evening. Our room was not ready at check in time but the front desk offered two breakfast vouchers to make up for the delay. Construction noise on hwy at night but obviously not hotels fault.

The tvs in the room are ancient, there is a musty smell in the room, the bedsheets look beat up, and the staff service is laughable. I don’t expect much, but I expect more than a motel.

We stayed here for a work event in town. I requested a late checkout as my boyfriends class was going to run until 12. The front desk approved. At 115 a worker opened my door (no knock or announcement) and attempted to force it open despite the inside lock being engaged. This was scary as I was alone in the room and didn't know who it was. When I told the front desk what happened no apology or explanation was offered. I would not stay here again. Definitely not what I usually experience at a Hilton. Hallways had old, torn dirty carpet.
