Cute rooms, some in main house, some in carriage house out back. Nice patio outside. Breakfast was a feast.

We decided to book this inn because their commercial on our local PBS made it sound lovely and romantic. We booked the most expensive room. My husband told them we were celebrating our 50th anniversary. Well, our “lovely room” was two houses away in a dingy house. We climbed a dirty carpeted stairway to reach our room. The couch looked dingy, there was heavy dust on the bed frame, the fireplace didn’t work. The jetted tub did work but had a sign that warning not to do this or that or it would not work or shut down properly. The room wasn’t worth a third of what we paid. As for our anniversary, the inn did not recognize it. At breakfast, coffee is excellent but if you do not want the entree of the day, you get one of those premade omelets. After we had almost finished eating, my husband flagged the waiter to ask for some water. The waiter said, “Sure and we also have orange juice.” Second day, it was the same. No water or juice unless we asked for it. Very very disappointing and way overpriced.

We were looking forward to staying at this B&B, and stayed in the Benton Room (attic). Unfortunately, the room was a disappointment and in need of a complete overhaul. IMO, this room is in no condition to rent to people. The carpet was heavily stained, the bathroom floor had a large hole that was covered (nailed) with plywood with a torn rug over it. The bedspreads had seen better days and were very old and faded. The sheets were clean, thankfully. The furniture through the house and in our room looked like flea market finds. The house has great potential but until then, I cannot recommend staying here. Note...the breakfast was good.

We had the Jewell Room in the Carriage House. It was lovely with a beautiful comfortable bed and nice size bathroom. A small refrigerator was stocked with water and nonalcoholic beverages, and there was a complementary small coffee maker. We had a lovely surprise when we turned out the lights at night and a "starry night sky" appeared on the ceiling above the bed. Breakfast was very good with great service and a beautiful presentation. It was a two day celebration for us; and we were very happy that we chose this place.

I have never written a review but felt that the Walnut Street Inn was such a wonderful experience I needed to share with others.. My wife and I stayed for Mo. State family weekend. We have done a fair bit of travel and have nothing but positive to say about our stay at the Walnut St Inn.

This place was a real gem! It was comfortable, well appointed with fun memorabilia, great location, excellent breakfast, and wonderful staff. COVID protocols were well instituted which made us quite comfortable. There was even social distancing in the dining room. Lisa recommended Gilardi’s Restaurant down the street (easy walk) and we had one of the best dining experiences ever.

This was our second stay at the Walnut Street Inn. Close to downtown Springfield, so fairly centrally located and within easy reach of Commercial St. and our other favorite places. Stayed in the large and lovely McCann suite (it's really more than just a room). As indicated in the title, everything, including breakfast, was great. Staff is both friendly and attentive. The ONLY negative of this room is the street noise - it comes straight in through the beautiful, old, single-paned windows. Located at one corner of a 4-way stop near college apartments, you can hear everything, including conversation, way past your bedtime. Bring good earplugs if that's an issue or choose another room. We stayed in the carriage house last time and were blissfully unaware of outside noise.
