Hotel lacks in providing services to guests instead the business is focussed on guests patronising its restaurant.

Wonderful. Beautiful room, great location, amazing breakfast, and the staff was absolutely lovely. Highly recommend!!

The room was clean with everything we could possibly need, the shower was super, the bed very comfortable. The location was so central and the food was fabulous as were the staff.

We have just returned from a wonderful night spent at Haar. The service was exceptional, everyone was so friendly and obviously very knowledgeable about their areas of responsibility. The room was extremely comfortable with lovely 'extras' provided such as tea, coffee, shortbread and bottled water. There were a few flights of stairs to negotiate but this was not a downside for us and the view made them worthwhile. As for the food, I was in awe of the talent of the chefs, I cannot compliment it enough. It was difficult to pick a favourite course of the tasting menu - the starters gave us an indication of what was to follow, just delicious! - and the breakfast was of a similar standard. I do hope we can return soon.

My wife and I stayed at the St Andrews property in August 2025 and it was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve had. There’s no front desk, check-in is done at a restaurant table, and the place has no elevator — something never mentioned during booking through American Express. We had to climb 52 stairs to reach our room, which was impossible for me after major back surgery. When we explained the issue, staff assured us we could check out early and be refunded for the unused night. That refund of £356.40 never came. Despite weeks of emails and calls — including through Amex — management completely ignored us. Even the supposed owner, Dean Banks, didn’t bother replying. This hotel is deceptive, unhelpful, and clearly only cares about taking your money. Stay anywhere else.

Stayed in one of the smallest rooms as that was all that was available to book. It does explain it's small...it is. It is also really comfortable and spotlessly clean. Lots of thoughtful touches including fresh home made shortbread which was placed there daily. Bathroom and toiletries lovely. Breakfast fab. Special shout out to David who helped with breakfast and chatted. Really enjoyed our stay.

Not good. After 8 tries we finally got the code to our room to work. Then the heater in the room was stuck and it took some time to figure out how to turn it off. No number to reach management and other reviews said management would not respond.

Very much below what I expected! Staff were lovely on arrival however the room was extremely small and there was basically no sound proofing to the room next door. No aircon and the window opened onto the kitchen fan! What was worse was the corridor and passage way to the room. Nothing short of filfthy. Carpet was stained and worn. Doors, (meant to be white), were just grubby. (Nothing a good wash with bleach or spray would not sort and then a dam good paint). The restaurant toilets smelled very bad - again were tiny. Such a shame as the décor in the restaurant was clean and fresh. Not worth the money at all!
