Best Hotels near Quadro Restaurant at The Westin Dragonara Resort, St Julian＇s

Starting with the information - we stayed at So City as a young couple (who arent particularly into nightclubs/bars) to see Matla for the first time over a week. I have given this a 'benefit-of-the-doubt' rating due to the hotel being incredibly new. We picked So City Hotel because of the value, it was incredibly well priced. I'd imagine this is a strategy due to it being so new but it was certainly well worth the price we paid. On to the hotel as a whole - I feel this is definitely aimed toward capturing people coming to Malta for some night life. Its positioned so that no more than 10 seconds from leaving the lobby, you can be in a bar, and their are some nice bars surrounding. That said, we werent there for that - but this location also meant that finding an evening meal, or a quick early night drink was incredibly easy. Exploring the island was also very easy from here, Valletta was a very short journey, and as we had opted to rent a car, there was a carpark about 5 minutes walk away (Pengardens) which is reasonably priced for over night parking, and we never struggled for a space. The room was very comfortable, and the mattress was perfect and bedding very soft and comfortable. Our upgraded room was also incredibly spacious. The theming is a nice touch and makes the room a bit more characterful and individual. Staying on the 7th floor, there was minimal noise at night, altough id be concerned if we needed to keep the window open.... The black out curtains were also amazing for keep the room dark for a little bit of extra sleep. Constructive criticism for the room would be: The shower tempurture is difficult - the hottest setting is insanely hot (my other half loves hot showers but this was too much for her also) and it wouldnt go cold, just cooler, it also seemed to get colder through out the shower and you found yourself adjusting. There is not a lot of storage at all for longer stays. This is perhaps a by product of it feeling aimed towards 'nightlifers' who might stop 3 nights or so. I would perhaps ask reception for additional hangers if you have plenty of clothes for a longer stay. The mini fridge, altough useful, is not big enough to put larger water bottles in, which can be annoying. The aircon unit is situated in a place which means it blows directly at the bed. I tried to play with the control but there was no way to adjust it that I could find. Im trying to cool the room, not refridgerate myself. The timer on the aircon also didnt seem to work, so setting it the blow for 30 mins whilst i went to sleep just didnt seem to work. The TV is not a full smartTV which is a shame. Just channels and an internet browser, which are never nice to navigate around.... On to other notes: Breakfast is just what you need. Its not an all out buffett where there is everything you could dream of, but there is more than enough and a few items cycle so you can expect a slightly different breakfast each morning. Excellent property with great location, extremely clean and comfortable, super friendly staff. Teo was extraordinary! He was a true example of excellent hospitality. He made our trip more exciting in Malta by guiding and giving us tips about the city and the attractions to cover in 72 hours. He made sure that everything was arranged for us accordingly. I couldn't thank him enough for the excellent level of service he had rendered. We will surely visit H Hotel on our next holiday and expect that will recommend your hotel to our family and friends.

Really lovely hotel. Clean. Great location. Close enough to all the great attractions and shops but far enough from all the noise so you still get a great night's sleep. Fantastic service from everyone at Hyatt from the receptionists (Ben and I didn't get the name of the lady who worked with him but I think it may have been Laura?) to the doorman Hoque. The hotels in Malta are not very large because they are close to the city and close to the sea. Open the window is still, opposite the old town of Valletta. It is more convenient to buy things around, and it is also very close to the station. There are many old small streets behind the hotel, which are quite flavorful. If there are no special requirements for facilities and five-star level, it is recommended to live. In addition, the service staff was very enthusiastic and renewed for 3 nights.

I will start by saying what a great hotel, a great location and the rooftop pool is a great little area. But the hotel staff are useless, We had paid for our trip in advance and paid for breakfast and upgraded to a room with a balcony and a view. I will note that we had 2 bookings 1 for the first night and a booking for the 3 following nights as we changed our travel plans due to flight costs and had a extra day.on arrival at 4pm ( check in is 3pm, we were told our room wasnt ready and we needed to pay, i told tge guy we had paid and had to get proof that i had, we were also told we hadnt booked breakfast or paid the upgrade again i had to find the proof, eventually all was sorted and we finally got into our room Next day we went down for breakfast and were refused entry as we ”hadnt paid” again we had to wait whilst it was checked, to then be allowed in. Later on that day we recieved a call to the room asking if the room was ok and do we need anything, we asked for a littpe milk for tea and within minutes it arrived, 10 minutes later the phone rang again and it was reception saying that we hadnt paid and if we dont go down straight away and pay it we have to leave. Again i had to go down and sort it.. finally all sorted... till departure, we werevthen told we hadnt paid the city tax, and even tho a trainee receotion lad said to the lady he was there when we paid it, she said if its not on the system we pay.. its only a few euros but its incompetence. The room itself is nice, spacious and comfy beds with a fantastic shower. The roof top pool is a great sun trap too.. Breakfast was nice, and lots of choice with real orange juice A good stay but ruined a bit by staff not doing there jobs

Trying to escape the festa of St Julian's we took a room facing the marina (thinking we'd avoid the pool screams and any other party noise). Unfortunately, marina king rooms are located right above jacuzzi rooms apparently frequented by families with small kids who enjoy a good splashing time morning or night. The loud persistent jacuzzi bubbling and the lack of sound isolation from the rooms below were definitely an unwelcome/major downside. Other bits that changed since the previous stays: The AC has a very delayed action - takes for it a while to turn on. The WIFI connection was bad (slow and irregular). The fridge door did not close/open properly. It seems that the hotel has changed the mattresses - they used to be more comfortable to sleep on (now on the harder side).

Stayed for 7 nights in a deluxe room on 10th floor. Check in was easy and very efficient. Room was large with a decent balcony. Bathroom had separate shower and bath. Not very many electric points and no USB charging points. Overall the room was good but in need of modernising. We had an issue with knocking from the water pipes ( not in our room) for our whole stay. Breakfast was plentiful, but limited options for vegetarian and even less for vegan choice. Pool area was great, with lots of loungers and shaded areas. Staffing at the pool bar seemed to be a bit hit or miss, one day 6 staff, the next day 2. Service at the hotel bar was also an issue on a few occaisions, mainly when there were conference groups. The location of the hotel was great, but not for those who would struggle with stairs. Returned 2 weeks ago after a wonderful week saying at The Palace Hotel. It took a long time to decide where to stay in Malta given the enormous choice and yet very mixed reviews, however I was really pleased we settled on The Palace. I did 1 less star for 'value', but this wasn't just in relation to The Palace as I thought generally hotel's in Malta were definitely on the pricier side. The room was lovely with the biggest bed I’ve ever seen and we had some lovely touches such as a daily visit from hospitality asking if we needed anything, and a bottle of filtered water changed daily. An excellent idea and far better than the frequent plastic bottles and subsequent waste. We also arrived on my husband’s birthday and quite unexpectedly in the evening, a lovely birthday cake was delivered to our room! From our initial greeting at reception with a lovely local drink and onwards, we had a brilliant service from every single member of staff. They were all very helpful and yet not intrusive. In particular lovely Puja in the wonderful TemptAsian’ restaurant, and Dhilip who served us both by the pool and at the ground floor Talk of the Town restaurant. Both were extremely knowledgeable and gave sound advice regarding choice of meals and suitable local wines. As we like to try local restaurants when we go away, we chose the bed and breakfast option however we were so impressed with the lovely rooftop TemptAsian restaurant we ate there twice. We then went for the buffet in the Talk of the Town restaurant on our last night, where we again had an excellent service from Dhilip, and where the food was well presented and excellent value for money. Sliema is a busy place with lots of hotels, and as other reviewers have stated, The Palace was within the centre of the peninsula, so although it wasn’t in the most picturesque road, given its proximity to all public transport, the ferry and bus stops including the ‘hop on/off’, we felt there was no necessity to hire a car. We did the short ferry over to Valletta many times and a bonus for us was a considerable ‘over 60’ concession. We managed to cram a lot in during our week in Malta from the numerous museums, tombs, caves and other historical places, in addition to exploration of the island on both the north and south hop on/off buses and brief trip to Gozo. I’m not sure we could not have done quite so much had we not been in such an ideal location. The other bonus was on the days we were back in time, having a swim in the gorgeous rooftop pool, and the Happy hour cocktails between 3 and 5 pm. Highly recommend this as a wonderful place to stay in Malta.

This is the second time I have stayed at this very special boutique hotel. The hotel is run extremely well with the staff being friendly and efficient, the food was absolutely delicious and our bed was extremely comfortable with beautifully soft pillows. My one criticism is that there were far too many people visiting the hotel who were not residents. On the Saturday and Sunday it was impossible to get a sun bed around the swimming pool and the guests were extremely noisy. One woman who brought a group of friends had won a day at the hotel. For two hours the group conducted a very loud three way conversation in the pool shouting at the top of their voices and had no respect for the hotel residents at all. This sort of behaviour in a small boutique hotel is unacceptable and not what we expected. Sadly due to the above we probably won’t be coming back. I thought I had found a quiet little gem in the middle of Malta, but it has become so noisy and crowded that it spoilt our weekend.

We booked a birthday vacation at the AC hotel St Julian's Marriott. It is an easy 15 minute drive from the airport, has free parking for guests and a nicely stocked breakfast. The rooms are very large with small balconies that face into town. If you crank your neck you can see the ocean from your balcony but in no way is it an ocean view. The balcony is narrow, with just enough room for a small table and two chairs but is perfect for two people to have morning coffee. The room has a water kettle and Nespresso machine with all the necessary pods, tea bags, and sugar for your morning or evening coffee fix. The bed is comfortable with a large smart TV that allows for screen casting to stream from your smartphone. It also has a wide variety of cable channels in various languages. The breakfast is nice, with both hot and cold items available. The hot items could have been a bit warmer, as the trays cool down quickly but overall we enjoyed the breakfast. It is a newer hotel and staff are lovely and very accommodating. The bar offers happy hour and is limited on liquor available. The bartenders don't seem to be as experienced as one would expect. We ordered mimosas to compliment our breakfast and each day received a ”version” of a mimosa that was different than the previous day. It was funny to us and just added to the day but for others might be annoying to not get what was ordered. The rooftop pool was nice, temperature was warm but not hot. The décor could use some sprucing as it seems they have furniture that wasn't out because it wasn't ”in season.” If the pool is heated and open year round, then the furniture should remain the same regardless of the season. We wish the rooftop pool remained open later into the evening. Overall it was a pleasant stay, staff are friendly and accommodating and rooms are comfortable and clean. The location is right off the main ***** of St Julian's, so not a lot of noise from crowds, but there is construction all around so there is noise during the work week.
