I stayed in a single room for one night. Although “budget” in price, the room was super clean, bed comfortable and the shower lovely and hot. There’s basic tea & coffee making in the rooms and a TV. I had a great night’s sleep with only the occasional quack of a duck heard from the river! Mikey (barman & host) was absolutely lovely and ensured an enjoyable stay (thanks Mikey!)

I stayed at this hotel for a trip to Alton Towers. Throughout the stay staff were amazing any issues I had were taken care of right away, Staying on site gave me a discount at the bar on site a welcome extra. The room itself was great while a little hot the window was able to be opened quite a bit. While the building was on the older side apart from a few creaks I had no issues sleeping here. The bathroom was a small wet room the shower while small the pressure was great. I would not hesitate to stay here again the reviews don’t add up to what I experienced here.

I have not yet stayed at the Bridgewood, but I thought it was worth a shout out as to how the staff recently dealt with my last minute cancellation. According to the policy to cancel, I needed to do so by 16.30 the day before arrival, which I understand - fair enough, however the Theatre only informed me on the morning of my stay that they were cancelling the show due to Covid I phoned the hotel and they couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful, Stephanie said that I could just book another date, but as I didn’t have one from the theatre yet, she waivered the cancellation fee and I have had all my money returned. They could have easily just said - “that’s the policy” and taken the cash! Thank you Bridgewood

We stayed here for 2 nights. It was nice and cosy, just what we needed as we were out all day both days so really just needed somewhere to sleep. It reminded us more of a hostel than a hotel. The member of staff who checked us in was helpful & friendly. The internet was really good. Please note their reception closes at 8pm so you cannot check in any later than this, but they have a door at back of the building for 24hr access once you have checked in so you can come and go as you please. Only negative was our kettle was caked with mold! I would have told reception when checking out but there was no-one there, we had to use a box to drop off our room key. I’d stay again.

I get that this is a budget hotel so you don't expect a great deal but I expected more than this. The cost was still too high for what we got. As soon as we entered the room we let out a big sigh. I sat down on the bed and it was so creaky with any slight movement it was so bad it kept waking me up in the night. The bathroom was the worst part, its as big as an airplane bathroom with a shower shoved in, no shower curtain or anything, couple of inches from the toilet so water covers the bathroom, make sure you don't wear socks in there. Breakfast was a shame. Cereal and make your own toast, no staff in the room and about 4 tables. As I've seen on other reviews we encountered the same problem, we came back to the hotel at night and tried to unlock the door to our block (there were another 2 guests stood outside trying to get in as well) neither of our cards worked, luckily we did manage to speak to someone at the hotel and they helped us get back in. The only good part to this hotel was the location of it for us.

Give it a miss. Felt like were in a prison cell, Inadequate facilities. Only saving grace was a lovely member of staff Mikey, made it bearable. We walked in and manageress just glared at us. Serious improvement needed.

One night booked for the 25th September. I arrived early which I had notified the hotel, room was available from 3pm which was fine. I arrived at 1.00pm, parked on the resident car park and placed my booking for clearly in my window., I also informed the hotel reception of my arrival. Headed into town to get some lunch, on my return my vehicle had been blocked in by 2 members of staff with a home made printed off notice stuck on my window saying I was parked illegally and there was a £25 fine, to be paid at the hotel reception. I attended reception and challenged what had happened, stating I was a resident of the hotel. I was informed that residents are people who live thin the hotel and not for people staying at the hotel. They insisted that I pay the £25 before they would move the vehicles that had blocked me in. When I challenged them again stating that it was not legal and home made printed sign was a complete joke a piss take they waivered the fine. Apparently the hotel does not offer parking (as advertised) and the rooms are a joke. I informed the staff to in no uncertain terms to move their cars and let me leave. I left without staying. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone, do yourself a favour and book elsewhere.

The room was adequate, with tea and coffee and clean bedding. The mattress however was not fit for a dog! Maybe 4 inches thick with springs felt through the thin padding. We had very little sleep in such an uncomfortable bed. There were NO waste bins in the room. luckily we have waste bags in our car and ended up bringing one of those in. A waste bin , especially for the bathroom is essential. The location was convenient, but no parking on site. Breakfast was self serve and adequate with a choice of tea, coffee, juice, cereal or instant porridge, prepared sausage on a bun and croissants.
