Very traditional British accommodation, just in the Peak District, the environment is very good, and it is very convenient to go hiking. The taste of the restaurant is really amazing! highly recommended! ! ! !

This is a great hotel!! The staff couldn't have done any more to make my stay any better, huge thanks to Chris on reception especially for looking out for me. The food is really stunning, both in the restaurant and the bar. The rooms very cosy with the most stunning views. Some areas do look a little old fashioned and the music is a bit quiet in the restaurant/bar but thats just me looking for faults. It's perfect for a weekend treat and escaping the busyness of life to switch off. Thank you SO much!

Overall we were very pleased with our stay. The food was excellent in quality. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would say the rooms are average and clean but nothing is missing. There is a lot of space in the lounge areas which we found useful.

Lovely location, great spacious room overlooking Thorpe Cloud and the bandstand. Only reservation was that the main course goats cheese salad was lovely goats cheese with almost no salad. It's an old fashioned idea that wanting a salad means you are on a diet. Feedback given by us and another table at the time.

Just been on a two day break at the Izzak with our old Lagonda club. The hotel is superb, the staff are so helpful and the food is to die for. I had salmon one night when the staff had to serve 56 people all at once, it was soft and just perfectly cooked and piping hot. Try the lemon posset it's soooooo good. Ok the rooms needs a little updating but you can forgive them that because they make up for it in so many other ways. The views are incredible and we were fortunate to see the Aurora Borealis as the area was so dark at night. Second year running we have come back and cant wait for the next time.

Excellent location, the views are stunning. Staff not quite so good, except Tracy who was brilliant. She covered every customer facing role, and was there morning noon and night. Food could have been cooked a little better.

We stayed for Friday and Saturday night The hotel and room were very comfortable The staff were friendly The first breakfast was very good - menu selection served to the table The breakfast on the Sunday was dreadful - the food was self service It was not particularly warm and overall was like a transport cafe!

We booked a kingsize room with a view. What we got was a strange concoction of a place which smelled of drains. Vile. It had a sticky bathroom floor. The “view” was out over a cruddy farmyard and the dumping ground at the back of the hotel. We paid for a view which was of the staff smoking shelter. The hideous replacement windows had dripping condensation between their glazing… perhaps to hide the view? There was a kingsize bed… and two single beds squeezed into an adjoining area. There was only one chair. The pitifully inadequate blind and curtain did nothing to dim the security lighting in the farmyard which blazed all night. The whole place needs some TLC. There’s lots of damp in the upstairs corridors and a cooking pot has been positioned to catch water seemingly coming through a skylight which has brought the plaster down, The rubbish bin outside the entrance was overflowing. The upside is the staff. They were all utterly delightful though clearly stressed and over worked. I’m still waiting for a reply from the general manager.
