What a great stay. From the moment we arrived the staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was large and clean. The breakfast was excellent, as were the evening meals. Good selection of wines. Close to town, but far enough away to be quiet. Next door to Burghley House. Highlights - the staff, champagne, evening meals (duck, cod, steak, chicken) and amazing cheese (from Rennet and Rind).

Lovely 1 night stay, comfortable room and delicious breakfast. A bit more eventful than we'd have liked but not necessarily within the hotel's control. Firstly the hotel battled with a national grid power cut which also meant no running water in the room (this was around 5pm for an hour or so). Seeing as we couldn't get ready to go out during the outage, we had a drink at the bar which was offered with compliments (nice touch!). Secondly, when drifting off to sleep around 11pm the deafening fire alarm right above our heads went off. Only lasted a few seconds but obviously we were then startled and wide awake. Not sure the cause of this and couldn't get an answer in the morning. Perhaps something to do with the wedding party guests? Would likely stay again but will check in advance if there's a wedding same time

A group of 10 family and friends had afternoon tea yesterday and what a fabulous afternoon we had in a beautiful setting. The food and the service was excellent. We were accommodated with no hesitation, even though there was a wedding at the hotel. Thank you to all the staff involved. Hope to return in the near future ☺️.

Had a lovely stay, this is the third year running we have stayed, we were room 11, which was a lovely room, it is by the kitchen extractor fan, so there is a bit of a hum this didn't bother us, the hotel had emailed to advise us of this, I did email to ask a few questions regarding this, I didn't get a reply, we nearly cancelled due to this, as last year we found some staff members weren't that helpful, I did phone & spoke to Laura who gave me the details, we're glad we didn't cancel as the staff were so friendly & helpful, especially one of the waitresses Helena who we first met on our first visit there in 2022, she always recognises us, she is friendly & helpful. The only issue was when we had been out for the morning, when we got back to the car park we had trouble parking, it appears that a lot of people seem to park there to take their dogs for a walk.

Lovely room and great service from the friendly staff. We stayed here following a visit to Burghley House and Gardens, so the hotel is in an ideal location for this only a 20 minute walk or short drive away. Stamford is well worth a visit and overall our experience was very good. The hotel provides a good breakfast and evening meal and I would stay here again

The secluded, peaceful and idyllic location of the hotel within the huge Burghley Estate was greatly appreciated. The hotel manages to maintain and convey its historical "old world" charm and yet, it has been tastefully refurbished with 21st century comforts and touches. All the staff were very welcoming and friendly and the rooms were very spacious and spotlessly clean. It genuinely felt an absolute privilege to stay at the historical and luxurious William Cecil and I would wholeheartedly recommend a stay here. Stamford is also such a beautiful town throughout and definitely worth a visit!

We had an excellent stay at the William Cecil - we took advantage of the Burghley package which includes tickets to the House and Garden , as well as DBB. Very good value. We were given Room 4 - also used as the Bridal Suite - this comprised of a large sitting room; an equally large bedroom; TWO bathrooms - big bath in one, double shower in the other ; and not forgetting the private garden!!! Proseccos in the garden anyone? The staff were lovely - particularly Prem the deputy manager who made us very welcome. We loved the style of the hotel and the furnishngs. Can highly recommend this as an elegant, comfortable hotel - and we definitely hope to return

We had a lovely short stay at The William Cecil. After a warm welcome we were shown to our room, small but perfectly formed. We opted to walk in the gardens before dinner and, with the help of a staff member, found our way into the extensive grounds of Burleigh House. We enjoyed the set dinner menu, had a great night's sleep followed by an excellent breakfast. At check-out we asked about concessionary tickets to Burleigh House and, whilst these weren't available at the desk, we were able to secure them by showing our hotel bill at the entrance. A great addition to our stay. We would love to return and will definitely recommend.
