A lovely stay at The William Cecil. Our room (no. 14) was amazing. very large, great bathroom with bath and shower. Everything we needed. Immaculately clean. The bed was really comfy. Food was absolutely delicious including the breakfast. The staff are so attentive. Lovely outdoor patio to have drinks. Keep an eye on the bill as there were a few errors which took days to sort out and there is also a service charge. This apparently is on the menu but we hadn't seen it. If you are on the front of the hotel be warned it can be noisy. Didn't realise that road can get so busy. Luckily I had taken ear plugs. Would love to go back with the above provisos.

Fabulous hotel and wonderful food and service. It’s a real gem in the heart of Stamford and perfect for a weekend away. We popped in for Sunday lunch which was the best we’ve had in Stamford and especially nice with live music outside. No better place to while away a sunny afternoon and especially nice for any furry Freinds you have as they are always well catered for

A very welcoming hotel nestled close to the Burghley Estate in the elegant town of Stamford. Very comfortable, beautifully decorated but still homely. The staff were all extremely pleasant and helpful. Dinner was superb - couldn't fault the quality nor the presentation of the food. Wish we'd been able to stay for longer!

On a solo daytrip recently from East Lincolnshire to Bedford, I avoided Peterborough by electing to have both morning coffee and, on the return leg, lunch at The William Cecil. And what a great choice it was! Roadworks and railway crossings had delayed me, so time was of the essence. Maddy was absolutely brilliant, and ordered and brought my cappuccino to me. On my return, she ensured I had personal service again. Over the last few years, the William Cecil has been a great oasis from the rigours of the busy road networks. Thank you to all the staff too, and I am sure to return.

What a great stay. From the moment we arrived the staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was large and clean. The breakfast was excellent, as were the evening meals. Good selection of wines. Close to town, but far enough away to be quiet. Next door to Burghley House. Highlights - the staff, champagne, evening meals (duck, cod, steak, chicken) and amazing cheese (from Rennet and Rind).

Lovely 1 night stay, comfortable room and delicious breakfast. A bit more eventful than we'd have liked but not necessarily within the hotel's control. Firstly the hotel battled with a national grid power cut which also meant no running water in the room (this was around 5pm for an hour or so). Seeing as we couldn't get ready to go out during the outage, we had a drink at the bar which was offered with compliments (nice touch!). Secondly, when drifting off to sleep around 11pm the deafening fire alarm right above our heads went off. Only lasted a few seconds but obviously we were then startled and wide awake. Not sure the cause of this and couldn't get an answer in the morning. Perhaps something to do with the wedding party guests? Would likely stay again but will check in advance if there's a wedding same time

A group of 10 family and friends had afternoon tea yesterday and what a fabulous afternoon we had in a beautiful setting. The food and the service was excellent. We were accommodated with no hesitation, even though there was a wedding at the hotel. Thank you to all the staff involved. Hope to return in the near future ☺️.
