15 mins by car to Newcastle nothing around in walkable distance however an amazing restful place. Beautiful nature, good food and amazing service!

What an amazing place. It ticked every box for me. From pulling into the drive and being taken aback by the sheer grandeur of the place, to reluctantly leaving this morning, it’s been a really special visit. Our room was really nice with a huge bathroom, comfy bed and pillows and tastefully decorated. The building itself is like a tardis inside and so elegant. Outside creates an instant first impression with the expanse of the lawns and multiple beautiful flower beds. The cherries on top though were the food and drink. We ate there both nights and were very impressed with the quality of the food. For me, it was a delight to find that the ales were so well kept and my partner enjoyed a few cocktails that varied from the norm. What made it so special in my opinion was the staff. There were unbelievably helpful, friendly and the owners should be very proud of their team. I cannot wait to return as it’s the perfect place to stay if you’re thinking of visiting Beamish Museum.

Very welcoming reception staff. Booked a standard room and the first thing that hit me was the smell! I'm really particular in my older years but the room smelled beautifully fresh and on closer inspection was fresh, clean and totally high standard. Basic amenities in the room provided. Dining at 'The Srables' was equally pleasant. Portions are very generous and food was quality standard and enjoyable. All staff were professional and friendly throughout . The grounds and hotel are beautiful and a very peaceful night's sleep was had! Wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Thank you!

Set in a great location, well cared for gardens & hotel. Large comfortable bedroom with lovely garden views. Friendly and welcoming staff, excellent customer care. Good menu choices for both breakfast & evening meals. Quality produce cooked perfectly. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The room was delightful, clean and spacious. Would not hesitate to go again. The Stables restaurant food was beautiful and reasonably priced too. Set in beautiful grounds right next to the Beamish museum. Well done

Lovely hotel, open and spacious, lots of space, food at The Stables was beautiful. Only slight downside is very noisy aircon so just opened window instead

The hotel facilities were as expected but the food offering was not. Our dining experience on the second night was not one to be savoured. If you expect fish & chips and burger & fries to be served quickly, then you are in for a surprise. If you expect fish & chips and burger & fries to be edible, then you will be very disappointed.

Found our nights stay after visiting the Beamish museum quite stressful as we were not informed before booking that the hotel was holding a graduation ball. The couple booking in before us were told there was a graduation ball and it could be noisy so I mentioned this when I was booking in only to be told we were a long way from the function room and we would not hear it. It got to 10pm and I could still hear banging music in our room and as I was playing golf early in the morning was hoping for a good nights sleep after complaining twice to reception we finally got moved to a quiet room should not of had to go through all this stress when we could have been put in a quiet room in the first place.
