Overall the hotel is perfect for a little get way, rooms are content and the facilities are great, the restaurant serves a wide variety of meals all roughly around £20, the continental breakfast was fantastic! The parking was more than sufficient and the grounds of the hotel off some stunning views, not to forget mention to the staff you're interested in some excursions and you will be able to get 10% discount for numerous activities! 100% would stop here again.

The cabin was perfect, really big compared to other ones ive stayed at. The hot tub was nice and private and such a good temperature. The breakfast was good and the food at the returant was great. Honestly couldnt fault the stay atall. The lady at reception was so welcoming and we will definitely be coming back!

This is a lovely hotel and punches above it's 3-star rating. The rooms were delightful, clean, bright and really comfortable. It would seem they may have had a refurbishment recently as the bathrooms in all our rooms (we had 3) looked quite new. The garden area is wonderful for a quick drink before dinner too! The staff were very friendly and our experience in the restaurant at dinner and breakfast was really good. If I had one small ******, it would be that the buffet breakfast may have been sitting under the heat lamps a little too long and had dried a little - but that was also partly on us because we came to breakfast quite late. It didn't detract from the experience in any way. I would highly recommend this hotel - you'll get much more than you expect.

Great hotel, lovely setting, gardens and views. Rooms clean and beds comfy! The staff are extremely accommodating went above and beyond for us as we celebrated my mams birthday, especially Keely the manager and Alex on reception. Food was delicious to and the added bonus of the hottub, pool area offers a great space to relax. We are already booked in for our next visit! We are returning guests abd visit often, definitely worth a visit!

To be honest, I can't point my finger on what was wrong but overall I felt the Hotel was not good value for money. We stayed here for a couple of days on our road trip to lakedistrict and scotland. We arrived there early morning and wanted to catch the early steam train and cruise (which is like 10 mins drive from here). The check in was late so we requested if they can keep pur luggage. We had a lot of luggage (as you can expect with 2 kids) and didnot want to keep it in some unprotected car park. The lady at the reception encouraged us to take it with us and said that lake district is a safe place and you don't have car break ins here. I asked her that we would prefer if this can be kept at hotel to which she replied that they don't have a cloak room and it would be in the office which is not safe. I was left a bit puzzled as i thought she earlier said that lakedistrict is a safe place. Anyways we took the luggage with us and arrived later in the day. We were allocate a room on first floor and as the hotel is old, there is no lift.It was a task to carry everything upstairs. The hotel is cosy with real fireplace and comfy sitting places around it and board games to keep kids engaged. The bed room was big with a double and 2 single beds. There was an issue at night, around 2-3 am, the heating stopped and the room became cold. I woke up and tried everything, went down but there was no one at reception. There was a number but i didnot call immediately. I called around 6 and he said he will do something. The heating came up after that. Later in the day I went to the reception and the lady said in a "matter of factly" way that all hotels switch off heating at night (honestly this was the first hotel I have seen who does this) to save cost. I told her that my kids have cough and it doesnot help much. She said the windows would not have been closed properly. However, to give credit, she did offer a blower for the room which we accepted. The next night I opened and closed the windows properly and actually it did make a difference. The heating did go off however we didnot need to switch on the blower till 6:00 am. The breakfast on sunday was good but on week day you need to order what you want , there is no spread on weekdays. There is jacuzzi and sauna (which was not working). I used Jacuzzi and swimming pool and it was totaly empty so had a nice swim. I liked the hotel and staff. It's a niche hotel and I am pretty sure if you go with right expectations you will like it. You may also like it as solo or couple traveller. For family stay, you should go with right expectations as it may not be ideal.

Superior Deluxe double room on Hotels dot con for £183 a night advertised with private outdoor hot tub. I believe it's a mistake by hotels dot con the staff were lovely and helpful and this review shouldn't reflect on them or there customer service. There is no PRIVATE hot tub with this option at all. The hotel was average very creeky floors and 4 poster bed quite dated very very noisy bed. The room was reasonably clean despite mould on the bath sealant. Shame the bathroom window didn't open too. Breakfast was good apart from it bugged me that not one of the curtain rails above the doors were straight. A little overpriced for what it was. £80-£100 would have been more reasonable and that's only because it's in the lakes. Not somewhere I'd stay again. The positives: Friendly Staff, Warm Room, Food was good.
