Friendly service, spatious restaurant, with indoor and outdoor seating, easy onsite parking. The dessert was good and well presented. The first course, soup, was tasty. The main dish lacked a bit of creativity and presentation skills. We have enjoyed the same main dish in another province with so much more eye for detail.

Negatief: Bij aankomst (op de dag van mijn verjaardag) bij de receptie kon er met moeite een goedemiddag vanaf. Voor de coronacheck moest ik mijn geboorte datum noemen. Een felicitatie kon er niet vanaf, ongeïnteresseerd en op de automatische piloot werd er verder ingecheckt. De eerste indruk was dus niet goed. De ruimte van het restaurant/bar is erg groot en is niet echt sfeervol. Zoals heel het hotel weinig sfeer uit straalt. Positief: De kamers zijn ruim en schoon met veel bergruimte en een fijne douche. De bedden zijn redelijk goed. Onze kamer lag aan de kant van een klein natuurgebied dus was rustig. Het ontbijt is uitstekend, vers brood, veel keuze aan vleeswaren en warme gerechten. Parkeerplaats is er genoeg en je hebt weinig tot geen last van de bezoekers aan de Mac Donald die op dezelfde parkeerplaats ligt. De ligging is perfect, binnen 1½ km. zit je in het centrum van Steenwijk met vele restaurants. (Pand 1875 als topper!) en via de snelweg zit je zo in Heereveen, Meppel, Zwolle of Assen. En je zit op fietsafstand van Giethoorn, Frederiksoord en natuurgebied de Weerribben /Wieden. De aangeboden huurfietsen waren uitstekend van kwaliteit tegen een redelijke prijs. Met vriendelijker personeel kun je het een heel goed hotel noemen, nu krijgt het een voldoende.
