The PERFECT place for a few quiet days, with dream beaches around and a super friendly team! I'd highly recommend this as an authentic and familiar place to the high-end hotels in Nassau -- if you're looking to get away from mass tourism, this is the place for you!

If you're traveling to the Bahamas the Stella Maris Resort should be your travel destination. The grounds were breath-taking, room was quiet with excellent views, food was delicious, but the best thing about this resort is the staff. Jill, DD, Joel, Jamie, Chanel, Kate, Noel, Anja, Amanda, and every single person there made our first and not last vacation there one of the best we've ever had. Thank you so much. We highly recommend Stella Maris Resort.

Excellent location on Long Island. Beautiful grounds with friendly staff. The natural pool is a great site to see. Our dinner was excellent. Fresh food. Recommend the grouper and the bread rolls. Cute little gift shop. Lots of activities to chose from is you stay on site.

If you're traveling to the Bahamas the Stella Maris Resort Club on Long Island should be your travel destination. The grounds were breath-taking, room was quiet with excellent views, food was delicious, but the best thing about this resort is the staff. Jill, DD, Joel, Jamie, Chanel, Kate, Noel, Anja, Amanda, and every single person there made our first visit there and certainly not our last, one of the best we've ever had. They even have an air service with the one and only Captain Joel to get you to and from Nassau airport safely and comfy. Thank you so much everyone! We highly recommend Stella Maris Resort Club,

After a COVID-abbreviated visit to Stella Maris last summer my husband and I decided to vacation there again this summer, this time staying at the Sea La Vie property. Sea La Vie is a 2 bedroom / 2.5 bath house with a stunning view of the Atlantic Ocean. It's elevation affords wonderful breezes too, and we enjoyed perfect weather during our stay. The bedrooms and 2 bathrooms are in one wing of the house, and the living room/dining room/kitchen and powder room are on the other side. In-between is a patio and breezeway -- there's an outdoor dining table (seats 6, in the shade), and 2 lounge chairs that are perfect to use for sun bathing during the day and star gazing at night. With the constant breeze it was delightful to enjoy this outdoor space. Both bedrooms have full ocean views, as does the main living area. I've attached a photo of a sunrise, as seen from the master bedroom. What a lovely way to start the day! The kitchen has frankly seen better days, but it's spacious and fully functional. The kitchen is equipped with the basics for preparing meals, should you wish to do so. The house is an easy 2-minute walk to Stella Maris' main pool and beach bar & grill. I'd suggest renting a car if you stay (the house has a carport with shade). When exploring the island I'd recommend checking out Docky's (for fishing expeditions and boat tours during the day, and for the restaurant/bar when open in the evenings). Docky's also has a nice gift shop for souvenirs -- all within a 5-minute drive of the resort. For an amazing meal, take a drive to Chez Pierre (but call first for reservations). I believe I posted a restaurant review for Chez Pierre last summer on TripAdvisor... We returned 2 more times on this trip, and believe me Chez Pierre did not disappoint! It's about a 30 minute drive from Stella Maris, but well worth it. Cape Santa Maria, one of the prettiest beaches I've ever seen, is about a 15-20 minute drive from Sea La Vie; the Columbus Monument is not far from there and affords spectacular views of the coastline in that area. Dean's Blue Hole is about an hour drive away. It's a unique and scenic place to visit (scuba diving can sometimes be arranged in the blue hole, as well as around other areas of the island -- the diving overall is excellent). One day we drove pretty far south to the Clarence Town area, and had a very nice lunch at Lighthouse Point. They're located adjacent to a marina and offer indoor and outdoor dining. We had a lovely lunch outside overlooking the water. Stella Maris' Moonshine Bar & Grill is always a good option as well, with tasty food, friendly service, a full bar, and beautiful views. There used to be a more formal indoor restaurant at Stella Maris (which we loved), but it's still closed due to the pandemic. Hopefully they'll eventually be able to reopen that once tourism gets more back to normal. A quick note about driving on Long Island: The roads are rough, so a jeep/SUV is a good choice for rental car.

We stayed in late July and it was not what we expected. I want to be clear that the staff was kind, responsive, and more than helpful with anything we asked. They provided good directions to local highlights and beaches. They found the perfect bikes to fit our family. When we couldn't quite find one to fit the tallest family member, we were fine with one of us walking over to Love Beach. About 20 minutes into our trek they came along the road with fresh cold water (it was 95+ degrees that day) and a bike they found that fit. It was a true act of service and we truly appreciated it. I am sure that back in the day, the resort was really lovely. However, the facilities are in poor shape right now. The AC unit for the house worked (it struggled against the intense heat) but it wasn't fitted into the building so there were enough open spaces for mosquitos to feast on us in the apar**ent at night. The patio was stained with rust from the leaky air conditioner and the landscaping was either completely dead or overgrown. It was a little closer to camping than I had hoped. The wood walkways on the way down to the beach are sorely in need of maintenance. The boards are warped and broken in places. There are nails sticking up. We cleared spider webs and avoided the overgrown brush on the way to the beach. The pools were cloudy and slight green. It was not the clear blue water in the pictures. Nothing looked like the pictures. The beachfront bar closed at 6 pm each night. The dining room, because there were only a handful of people in the resort, was generally closed unless you told them ahead of time you'd be there. We made a mistake the first night thinking we would eat at the bar near the beach. When we figured out that was closed, we went up to the resort dining room. It was empty and the staff was surprised to see us as we hadn't made a reservation. They very kindly scrounged up dinner for 3 of us, but the whole place was empty. That said, the nearby beaches were beautiful. Love Beach was stunning and very secluded. Gorgeous blue water and white sands. The beach in front of the resort is pretty as well, just a different terrain, a little more rocky at the edges. But, still white sands abound. I think if you're up for a basic place to stay you'll be fine here. But, if you take the word "resort" as one might, you will be left wondering what you misinterpreted in the online pictures and reviews. Our experience was quite different.

The property is older and dated but very clean and well maintained. The breakfast was excellent while the lunch and dinners were ok. Staff is friendly and attentive. It's off the grid and a perfect spot to disconnect

Our first time in the Bahamas and we wanted a place that was not crowded and noisy, and to be able to relax. Stella Maris is very quiet and relaxing for sure. It was not busy at all, I believe because the summer is off season? We stayed at Flamingo House, which was the perfect location as the pathway from the back of the house led to the natural pool cut into the rocks, and to the right was the Moonshine Bar and Grill on the beach, 30 seconds away. At night we lounged in the two lounge chairs overlooking the natural pool and saw so many stars in the clear sky. The beach is not "swimmable" as it has a lot of rocks but you can certainly splash around still and it is beautiful. The house itself is nice, though some quirky things such as the coffee pot, and the sliding door to the deck was very hard to open and close. The bathroom was really hot so we spent little time in there! The views were amazing from the back of the house! Just so beautiful. Highly recommend hiring a car in order to explore the island. Dean's Blue Hole is a must. Cape Santa Maria Beach is nice to visit also. Shout out to Jill at the resort. Always nice to talk to and so very helpful with questions and advice. We were there during the Independence Day holiday weekend and tried to buy a loaf of bread but the local store had already run out. Jill offered to bake us a loaf of bread, which she did! The food at the resort restaurant was mostly nice. My only suggestion would be to have more vegan food options (though I was happy to see oat milk as an option for tea/coffee) and the service could be a little faster. However that seems to be a Bahamas thing... no hurry! All in all a great resort and would love to return some day.
