I stayed 4 nights at this Hampton Inn and although there were a couple minor issues, it deserves 5 stars. First of all the employees are all extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean and the bed is probably the best I have ever slept in at a hotel. The location is great, not right on the expressway where you get too much noise but only maybe 3 minutes from I 75. Breakfast was better than most and an employee was always standing by to make sure nothing was running low. The only negatives were some noisy guests in the hallway one night at 10PM and again when they returned at about 4:30 AM. I've encountered this at other hotels and it is hard to blame the staff for this. Only other issue was a drainage problem with the shower/tub. This is my second stay at this location and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Brand new. This hotel is conveniently located. Close to I-75 but doesn’t have road noise. So nice to have a good nights sleep. Those checking us in were very friendly. Also the manager Mark even came up and mentioned if there is anything that can make our stay better to just let him know. We were very impressed with all that we experienced at this hotel. Will definitely stay again. Very clean.

The assistent manager messed up my booking and tried to put the additional costs from his mistake on me. Only after threatening with an official complaint did he fix his mistake and insincerely apologized. Rest of the staff was friendly though. Not the luxury I expected from Hyatt but then again, it is only a 3 star hotel. Breakfast and bar/shop are all focused around getting you to eat as much carbs/sugar as possible. Not a good hotel for people with dietary restrictions. Airco worked very well, but also very loud. Had to be turned off during the night to sleep. Cinema, stand-up comedy place and a few restaurants in walking distance so for a short holiday stay it might be okay.

This is a great hotel. I have the pleasure to spend two weeks here and it wonderful. The breakfast attendants are pleasant in the morning (rarity) and helpful. Sara at the front desk has been a gem since I’ve checked in and all through out my stay. Always happy and willing to go above to take care of her guests.
Rrgrs7My family of 8 visited this hotel as part of a hockey tournament. As a family of 8 we need the MAX amount of room we can get in a room and reserved a 2 bed ”suite” as their website called it. Their website clearly says that this room as a ”separate seating area” with a pull out couch. Like 99% of hotels that advertise this, this usually means there's a separate room. All there was, was a couch on the far side of one of the beds. There were no pictures of this room on their website either, its blank. Appears they really do try and mislead you. We like the separate room so our younger kids can go to bed early and the older ones stay up a bit later, very hard to achieve in a room of this style. The house keeping staff were also very rude. The Saturday morning of our visit, before we left (8am) we asked that our room be cleaned in the morning. We returned at 1pm, room not cleaned. We started preparing lunch when there was a knock on the door with the staff wanting to clean. We told them we were having lunch and they persisted, indicating they wanted to go home and they had to do our room....uncomfortable! On our last day, we asked for a late check out so our 6 kids could use the pool and it was no issue. 30 minute prior to our departure, there was another knock on the door - housekeeping - they were rude, telling us we should not be there and they needed to clean the room. We told them we had a late checkout and it was a Sunday night, there was no way that they were going to be busy with check in's that night anyways, they stormed off. The pool was nice and warm, but never had towels. We went down on Sunday at opening and there were no towels, one would assume you would do the laundry over night and when you open the pool in the morning it would be fully stocked. The breakfast was good and the hotel was in good shape.
I had high hopes for Tru by Hilton at Sterling Heights because the location was ideal and I had family in Sterling Heights I wanted to visit. Sadly, the experience quickly went downhill when I checked in. Is hospitality a thing of the past? Shouldn't all Hiltons aspire to the same level of hospitality? Never mind that I wasn't greeted as a loyal customer as some of us expect when we check into any Hilton establishment. I mean a smile or a simple word like ”Welcome” really isn't too much to ask. If you're working in a hotel, that should just be a given. Are hotel workers no longer trained in the most basic level of hotel hospitality? Shame on the house of Hilton for not recognizing these most basic things. Never mind that a basic continental breakfast for Diamond members or Gold members was not made available. Never mind that I had to be sent driving across the highway to Bob Evans because breakfast was not an option unless you wanted to shell out $15 for breakfast at a place that's not even a three star hotel. My own damn fault for not doing my research and reading all these scathing reviews on this one location alone in Tripadvisor. Just because Tru by Hilton is meant for the budget conscious traveler doesn't mean that your staff have license to be unfriendly and not treat loyal customers with the same common courtesy that any weary traveler deserves. If Hilton corporate people are reading this, please, please give the staff at Tru by Hilton at Sterling Heights some basic training in common courtesy. My experience at this establishment makes me question whether I should remain a Hilton Honors member.
GGuest UserWe are a military family who traveled home to visit for the holidays. We had two rooms. One had to be changed 3 times. Window and door were both cracked and we arrived after 10pm that night. Toilet didnt work, tv didnt work, sheets were dirty, carpet was dirty. The bathroom faucet wasnt working. And the other room had to be changed twice. The walls were very thin. The rooms are very worn. There was a constant smell of ********* and it was very noisy with people jumping, walking and talking all day and night. We stayed because I waited too late to book a place that was pet friendly and everything was full. The first night that we were there, the man at the desk was super nice. Within in the next two nights, we came in at about 5 am because we had something going on with family. We were supposed to check out but we needed sleep. I went to talk to whom I later discovered was the manager or the GM. He said that my dogs had been barking all night, (which they only bark if someone is at the door or trying to get in the door). He told me that we could not stay, which was fine with me. But he was EXTREMELY RUDE for no reason. I spoke to the guy at the desk when we were checking out the next day and he told me that he is always that way. I would not recommend my military counterparts to ever visit this hotel. Or anyone else for that matter. Not until they update it and change things, number 1, changing the GM. Have a great day!
