We stayed at The Lowell Inn for a wedding in downtown Stillwater and the location of the hotel was ideal. We had multiple groups of people staying here and all of our rooms were great. The historic charm is beautiful and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. However, several of us experienced poor customer service when talking to a staff member named Tim over the phone. He was quite rude and abrasive when a few of us called (separate couples at different times of the day) to simply inquire about the possibility of an early check-in. We had been told by a different staff member earlier in the week that it would be no problem for us to have an early check-in. Of course we understand if early check-in is not able to be offered day of if the hotel is very busy, but the manor in which that was communicated by Tim was not apologetic, friendly, or courteous. This same type of behavior was experienced by each couple in our group and was surprising and disappointing to see from someone working in the hospitality industry. Oddly enough, his demeanor was completely different upon checking into the hotel in person; he was helpful and friendly at that time and relayed the fact that it would be no problem for us to get into our room an hour early, which was a pleasant surprise after our experience with him over the phone. Overall, we did enjoy our stay and would come back and recommend this hotel to others, but would not necessarily look forward to any future interaction with this employee.
