I booked this as a last minute overnight for Easter. The location of the hotel is lovely and so are the views. Room was spacious and clean and the breakfast was really nice, we had the full Scottish. Reception was friendly. Lovely bar with lots of books, cosy seating areas and outdoor spaces. Would love to go back.

The hotel is in a nice setting however it goes downhill after that, booked one night prior to ferry journey and we were shown to the Honeymoon suite [ imagination required] by a rather disinterested member off staff who it seems was the only person there. Room requires a deep clean , grubby carpet and all sorts lurking behind the bedside tables and bed, tea tray [no milk or biscuits] is fraught with danger the extension lead row of plugs pulls the base for the kettle of the tray when the kettle is lifted, who thought this one through. We arrived on a Tuesday and had been informed the restaurant was closed as the chef was off and the bar closes at 6pm as the lady in charge wanted home. As we had an early ferry to catch we asked for an early breakfast which was not available, we were to be fair given a packed lunch , however the sandwiches were inedible consisting of cheap bread , one side cheap spread and a wafer of cheese, we decided to leave them for the birds....... Not a good experience which seems to be a trend in a lot of places in Scotland, it takes very little effort to get it correct but then again you have to care...best advice I can give is avoid .

Just returned from a fantastic night's stay at Torrs Warren . We opted for the DBB deal which was amazing for the money especially as we were staying in the Royal Blue room with the roll-top bath. The room was large, bright and tastefully decorated. Dinner was lovely in the conservatory followed by drinks in the olde worlde bar with an amazing collection of books and board games and we talked the night away with a lovely couple from the Lake District. Lastly, but by no means least, was the lovely quirky and funny young lady Neave who was attentive to our every whim from the moment we arrived. She's such a credit to the hotel (best music playlist ever 😉) ❤️ thank you for a memorable stay!

Stayed here for one night on a Saturday. From booking for checking in it was very easy and it’s a lovely country house hotel, the bar area and lounge as well as the stocked library to look through was a joy to enjoy. We had the evening meal at the hotel and we had a deal which was two steaks and a bottle of wine for £30, as well as some starters and mains and it was very good. The quality and presentation of food was exceptional for such a small venue. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Breakfast was perfectly acceptable and plentiful. The room itself Had an extremely comfortable bed was clean and tidy and the windows were good quality given the age of the hotel. If you look close enough, you may see some signs of wear and tear as you would expect in many a country house. There was a nice refreshments tray in the room and the Wi-Fi was very good. A little bit of a hidden gem at a very reasonable price with good quality food and friendly staff. Much better than staying in Stranraer for example, so do consider it if you’re in the area.

A 2 night stay. The first night, the lager tasted like cleaning fluid. The barmaid changed the pint, but it was flat. The steak was meant to be 8 oz, I think my wife and I had 4 oz each. Apart from that, the first was OK. 2nd night was much better. The breakfast is below standard. Very limited choice on offer. And the server lady on the 2nd morning needs to learn how to not grimace when serving.

We stayed for a couple of days in the attic family room which is very spacious and cosy. We loved the quirkiness of the hotel the little snug next to the restaurant was great after our meal to sit with a drink whilst the open fire was roaring. All the staff were very welcoming and friendly, the evening meals were very good in a lovely cosy setting. The breakfast was excellent and served by a very friendly lady. The exterior was very surprising it was immaculate with a very nice outdoor seating area. It was winter so obviously we didn’t sit out but I bet it’s brilliant in summer sitting out with a drink and food.

For the money it’s well worth the DBB - We had the Royal Blue room & enjoyed both the room & food. Very quiet place, bar is very small but cosy & welcoming - 2 girls at night were very good hosts - never saw much of the morning staff but pleasant enough
