Clean room and good breakfast. Had dinner there and was surprised to see a tip automatically added. Being on the second floor was a challenge as there isn’t a lift.

Great location in the middle of town, room was nicely decorated and mattress was firm and comfortable to put liking but the pillows were very soft. Bath didn't drain so we had 4 inches of dirty water from our showers during the day (we did mention it to staff as soon as we noticed). Like a lot of Stow hotels they allowed dogs inside so we had the unpleasant finding of a dog hair on the breakfast plate in the morning. This is the problem when you allow animals where people are eating. Food prices are very expensive seeing as they asked us to eat in the bar area as restaurant was closed. We cancelled our dinner reservation as I didn't want to sit next to the heavy panting of a french bulldog next to us. Saying that staff tried to accommodate us as best as they could but also they had to follow house rules

We really enjoyed our meal here. The asparagus starter was amazing, the hake and crab pasta for our mains were both delicious and filling. The staff were very friendly and attentive and I would recommend eating here if you ever stay in Stow on the Would.

If you don't expect too much, and are only passing through for one night and don't mind the high cost of the room (and restaurant), then go ahead and book it. We spent three night here, and that was too long as our room didn't accommodate us wanting to hang out in it and use it. We had a superior room and it had only one chair. We wanted to watch some sports on the TV and asked for another chair. Sorry, no chair, not even a folding chair. Do you like to drink your morning tea standing up? We asked for a luggage rack. Sorry, no luggage racks. We wanted to read in the room which was way to dark, little natural light. No reading lights, not even at the bed. The only good light for reading was sitting on the toilet by the window, during the day. The continental breakfast was substandard. They didn't replace anything that was missing unless one complained; who wants to beg for fresh fruit? If I wanted coffee, I had to get up and get the pot and pour it myself. All of this made if a huge mistake for our 3-day needs, and it cost us a bundle of money on top of it. We did have one good dinner in the restaurant, thus the second star. Oh, the staff . . .apart from the manager, a friendly chap, the rest of the staff were completely indifferent and somewhat unfriendly. Maybe it was the end of the season and they were "tired," being in September, but the effect is still the same on the customer.

4x couples..booked 4x doubles ages ago .Rooms v.dissappointing..small,cramped.We were given Crows nest which should not be classed as a double.Bed squashed under eaves..you have to climb over your partner to visit loo in night.Nowhere to sit except on bed.bathroom facilities split in 3 areas..toilet in cupboard, shower behind bed...small sink over in corner. No mirrors. Good points....food very good and staff very helpful.Avoid carpark....unsurfaced road which could damage your car.

We are on a 3 week driving trip of the UK. We stayed 3 nights at The Stag and were disappointed in this choice. Although Allen at the front desk was helpful, the staff were quite indifferent. The complimentary continental breakfast was disappointing. The Sunday roast was not any better. Simply bland in comparison to other B&B's on this trip. We did find some local jewels of restaurants in the immediate vicinity. We would not recommend this B and B.
