Enchanted Haven on a Private Pond in Stowe

Spooky Season Scare My girlfriend and i drove from Maine to Maryland and Maryland to Vermont. We get to the VRBO around 11:30pm, go get food and come back. The way we were supposed to enter wasn't all the way clear but once i got inside, all the doors were wide open. We turned on all the lights as we were pretty worried but we went downstairs again and even though the house was supposed to be empty, we heard footsteps in the house walking back and forth. We weren't told there might be someone else there with us. I had to get my various forms of protection ready to defend myself and my girlfriend. My girlfriend instructed us to just leave as she was practically having a seizure out of terror. We get to the car, my vehicle was the only one in the driveway and yet, we noticed all the lights i had turned on were now off. We sped down the road to the Best Western off of Exit 10. The host tried to blame us and our terror for our bad experience and tried to make us feel bad for terrifying the other person. It sounds like the other person didn't know we were going to be there either. I highly advised the host that they need tobstart being more specific on their listings, lock doors that are restricted and put up some form of sign. Luckily i got my money back. It is indeed a beautiful and clean house, but without knowing what we are getting ourselves into because the lack of communication from the host is what threw us off.
