What an amazing experience Seriously I’m over the top We had a 4 day experience for a wedding there and every day was amazing from this place. The owners of the Castle just happened to be around and were so helpful and engaging. 1-rooms were beautiful and fully equipped 2-food and bar were on point 3-grounds were obviously amazing (it’s a castle duh) 4-staff were super helpful for arranging day trips and giving advice 5-proximity to major sightseeing was awesome Highly recommend all day and can’t wait to return

We stayed 2 nights for our 40th Wedding Anniversary and had a wonderful stay. Heather on reception was so friendly and welcoming and helpful. Our room with a four poster bed was beautiful and comfortable. The evening meal was exceptional. All the staff we met were so friendly. The breakfasts were also delicious. We really enjoyed our celebration and would highly recommend this beautiful hotel.

GUESTS BE ALERT. My husband and I stayed in Barberstown Castle for 3 nights in August 2024. The cost of our stay was 780euro B&B On checking in the lady on reception authenticated our card and on doing so she blocked 1230 euro on our bank account without informing us. We discovered this on checking our banking app an hour later. The reason that we were given was that our stay was 780euro and 500 euro was secured for any food or drink we might have during our stay. We were very cross and will not be returning. The 1230eur was not unblocked on our acc .until the day after we came home. No trust. Alice Hally

We went for a wedding: this hotel does a LOT of weddings and exceptionally well too. We stayed two nights and had an excellent time. The rooms are expensive (Irish hotels are) but this was worth it. The rooms are huge and well-appointed and our bathroom practically as large as our bedroom at home. And everyone else’s rooms seemed likewise. The breakfasts were great and the wedding catering excellent: the beef main course was very fine and then they came round with second steaks - though I don’t see how anyone managed two. The two aspects that really stood out were the exceptional surroundings with beautiful flowers everywhere and the really delightful staff team: nothing seemed too much trouble and there were a lot of charming young workers beavering away both in the hotel and banqueting suite. We felt very well looked after throughout our stay. Oh and the wedding noise didn’t impinge on the hotel at all - just as well as there are weddings almost everyday at this time of year.

The Hotel and service was excellent and i have only one issue. There was 100 euros taken from my card as a deposit for bar service to be added to my room bill. When i paid my bill in full on the following morning i was assured that the 100 euros would be refunded to my account within 5 days. we are now 5 weeks,5 phone calls and an email later and the money has not been refunded to me. This is very unprofessional and unsatisfactory. I am continuing to chase it down which is quite annoying.

Just back from a short stay at the beautiful Barberstown Castle & it was great. From the moment we arrived the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was very elegant with a comfortable four poster bed. Our stay included a 3 course meal which was on a set menu. All 3 courses were delicious & the service was excellent. The gardens are lovely & there is a outside sitting area perfect for having a drink on a sunny day. The only thing we were disappointed with was that we couldn't stay longer.

This was my first visit to Barberstown Castle for lunch in the Garden Bar and it was not the experience I expected. On arriving we waited to be seated as the sign suggested. We were left waiting a few minutes while staff walked past ignoring us. When one staff member acknowledge our presence they didn't even greet us, a smile wouldn't go astray. We asked for a table for two and they just nodded their head over towards a table. We seated ourselves and another staff member came with menus. At this point we contemplated just getting up and leaving as we felt as though we were an inconvenience. The waitress who took our order was so nice and friendly. The food was lovely and arrived promptly. During our meal nobody came to ask was everything ok and after finishing we didn't even get offered dessert or tea/coffee as nobody came near us. So overall after this experience I would not go back again. Some staff need further training on how to deal with the public.

Overall the hotel is beautiful however I saw an encounter between what seemed like staff and manager which put me off quite heavily. What seemed to be a faux pas by a worker in reception was greeted by an overly aggressive response from a male (what seemed like) manager. Poor treatment of staff at such a high-standard hotel was upsetting to see and has staved me off from staying again.
