It's very comfortable and nice. It's like staying in a palace. The service staff are also very enthusiastic. The restaurant inside is also delicious. The price is not expensive, only 1,000 per person. The spa inside is very good.

Ladies and Gentlemen only the best impressions! With all that said, breakfast could be a little interesting! bg The Bandjuk family from Leipzig.

The hotel met all my expectations of a 5* hotel in Italy. The service was excellent, the accommodation clean and the staff polite and helpful. The hotel is a mixture of art gallery and museum. Communal areas and corridors are covered in works of art and grand vases. Murano chandeliers are the default light fitting. The mosaic floors inside and out are stunning. The room was disappointingly small but the bed was large and comfortable. The bathroom was well equipped but the fittings were a little tired and heading towards end of life. The furnishings throughout although grand and ornate, are showing signs of age. I had a distinctly wobbly chair at breakfast. The grounds and pools are also lovely and immaculately kept. The pool furnishings could do with inspection as there were marks that needed cleaning. The food at the hotel was excellent but priced beyond its quality. The Grand Hotel des Iles Borromees has a charm that makes you forgive the minor shortcomings.

Breathtaking inside and out. We had a triple room, beautifully appointed , a jacuzzi inside - looking out over the lake, view of Italian Alps. The room had a King size bed, cot, sofa, recliner all done in red, soft green and gold brocade … balcony that ran the full length of the room with two outdoor recliners, and a bistro table and chair set. Dining room breakfast was incredible ! Outdoor pools- one deep with a diving board, second had shallow ends and five foot deep centre with below water seating. Third was a shallow grotto type with cascading water and jacuzzi jets to enjoy . Lots of loungers and umbrellas to enjoy . Rooms are clean, high quality sheets. Plenty of seating areas inside and out to enjoy the lovely scenery . An unforgettable stay .

I thought we might need a restful stay near the end of our 8 week European trip and I was right. I would enthusiastically repeat our four night stay at this wonderful hotel, founded in 1863, where we wandered around with our jaws dropped in awe of the incredible decor and artworks. There is nothing understated about this place - but it works. It rained quite a bit during the three days we were there but it just didn’t matter. We could sit in our room and stare out at the moody clouds on the lake or, when free of clouds, the revelation of the snow-capped alps surrounding Lake Maggiore. The spa treatments are good if expensive but the indoor pool (from which you can swim outside through the sliding doors!) and surrounds with saunas and aromatic showers and snow/ice cubicle is amazing. The restaurant was excellent and the breakfasts in the same dining room outstanding as was room service. Do sit in the decadently decorated foyer/bar area and have a cocktail and bar snacks while the pianist plays. The staff were very helpful, especially Luca the concierge who went to great lengths to replace two missing screws that threatened to see our luggage fall apart. We walked in slight drizzle and took the public ferry to Isola Bella (that we could see from our room) - don’t miss it, the history and beauty are amazing. We also ate a lovely meal in the nearby old town in a Michelin starred restaurant. The hotel felt expensive to us but when I look at other luxury stays this is brilliant value - if you can, stay here and don’t be afraid to take photos!
