Arrived 7th may. Wonderful reception, pleased with room, but only set up for one. One water, one biscuit, one set of towels. Spoke to reception. Went for a drink, bar staff were great, very friendly and helpful. Had dinner, service and staff really good, food good. Breakfast very good, again staff excellent, especially Tina. Dinner abysmal ! Different staff, didn’t have a clue, didn’t care, didn’t ask if meal was ok. We waited over an hour to get main course, had to stand to get attention to enquire where food was. Staff were not attentive, had to walk to restaurant desk to ask for more oil and balsamic, because the thimble portion I got I had used, food when it arrived was barely satisfactory. No apology, no enquiry as to how the meal was. Staff seemed to be unhappy, stressed, and disorganised, even staff from the previous day seemed stressed and tired. What went wrong ? Could it be that because there was a wedding celebration at the same time, experienced staff were attending wedding guests, whilst hotel guests were ignored. No we didn’t complain at the time because restaurant staff couldn’t care less, and reception was not manned. Sadly our first and last visit, very, very disappointed.
