Double sea view room with balcony. Spacious bedroom with nice seating area. Clean and in good decorative order. Comfy bed, quality linen. Wonderful, original metal-framed window and French door opening out onto huge balcony. Unfortunately, the sea view tuned out to be when looking left from the end of the balcony and not from the actual bedroom. Kettle needed descaling. Bathroom well appointed, nice towels and quality Elemis toiletries, but would benefit from a really thorough deep clean and a lick of paint. Absolutely fabulous public rooms, not ‘dated’, as some reviews suggest, but furniture and fixtures appropriately in keeping with the style and period of the building. Wonderful! Beautiful outdoor pool area and indoor spa. Lots of outdoor seating areas. Extensive woodland to the rear of the hotel. Just a few minutes walk to Knoll Beach, through the hotel’s extensive grounds (which includes tennis courts and a golf course) just over the road. Absolutely no information provided about any of these brilliant amenities, or indeed anything at all, in our bedroom. Also, no information about Wi-Fi, no information about breakfast times, no information about how to even contact Reception on the telephone provided in the room … The food at the evening meal was exceptional but was let down by the very slow service as staff focused on setting tables for the following day’s breakfast - which turned out to be so disappointing that it was hard to believe that both meals had originated from the same kitchen.

A one time grand-ish hotel is now looking a little tired but it’s in a great spot, perfect for walking and water sports. Staff friendly and helpful. Waiting service needs polishing. Restaurant food good.

All the amenities one would want on site and such a lovely beach so close. The ferry to Sandbanks opens up a whole new area to discover.

Dated hotel that is up for redevelopment in a very big way. Can't come soon enough. Lots to offer at hotel, but not sure if it is being managed as it should. Security I suspect could be better. Various access doors were open all day, one directy onto the car park. Heating, a question! Why were radiators on in temperatures if around 21-22c, even staff couldn't understand it.

Matchless position. Charming property and history and lovey staff who work very hard to deliver a happy stay.

Quirky Art Deco feel hotel, older patronage, staff friendly room was clean, although floorboard squeaky breakfast and evening meals were good. We would return as our type of place 👍

Loved this place but don’t go if you expect modern decoration and facilities. This place is a wonderful, eccentric hotel. It is in a fantastic location. Five minutes walk to Studland Beach and views to die for. The staff are lovely and the food is good. It has a lovely outdoor pool with loungers. It has an indoor small pool in a 1970’s building with sauna, steam room and a non-working hot tub. There’s a cinema room, library, children’s room and games room. You can play tennis, pitch and put etc. The ladies toilets are pretty impressive. Pink floral tiles with pink net curtains. The whole place is extremely dog friendly. There are various lounges including one that hadn’t been changed since the 1950’s and a bar that looks like a boat. There were lots of multi-generation groups many who return every year. Special mention to Laura in the spa - you were great. We loved it and will be back.

Clean, friendly hotel in stunning location. Only ate breakfast there but that was good quality and plenty of it. Would go back.
