From the start of my visit to when I left, not once did I felt welcome, spoken at rather than the customer service I would expect. Restaurant was closed on the first night, (Told there was not sure about the next night) after a day at work and having to drive a couple hours, being told I had to go out for a meal was not what I wanted to hear. If the restaurant is closed, let people know when booking, we could stop on way. At breakfast again I was not made welcome to such extent I went into Haverhill for breakfast on the second morning. The rooms where okay and clean, and the location smashing, just ruin by the customer service.

Just returned from a weekend at this place. It was not a pleasant experience for us. No signs to show you where to go to reception. Girl who let us in very unfriendly. Room 201 was awful bed so low you struggle to get out, hot tap only a trickle of water, had to boil a kettle to have a shave. Toilet wouldn’t flush most of the time. No white bread for toast is the morning plus had to scrape the black of as it was burnt, asked for some more butter to be given a couple of bits from a previous visitor as they had all crumbs on. This place is not worth the money, and I’m not a complainer just don’t want anyone else to experience this.

Nice location and rooms are close to the car park. Could do with a mirror in the bedroom to get ready. Service is brilliant as always.

Overpriced for poor standard room. Shower incredibly noisy, no tea in room, no option to have a drink on return to hotel, leak at the back of the sink, lights not fixed to ceiling properly etc etc

Het is goed toeven in de rustige omgeving. Prachtig landhuis met grote tuin. Buitenverblijven zijn prima, maar het landhuis zelf is prachtig. Prima ontbijt, natuurlijk typisch Engels. Wel aardig aan de prijs.

Trying to sort a funeral and upset our Nan who was just trying to sort a venue. No need for it. Avoid at all costs, plenty of nicer friendlier places. Will be telling everyone to avoid! That Dan is one horrible human.

Hotel signage is either nonexistent or confusing and there is no reception area. We were shown to a garden room in the annexe which was very tired looking, walls poorly painted, furniture was basic and lacked character. The only opening to the outside was the door which meant, because we could not leave it open, the room became extremely stuffy overnight. The wall heater in the room was not working and had been replaced by a heavy freestanding one that had to be dragged across the room to be plugged in. The heated towel rail and extractor fan in the bathroom were also not working which meant our towels remained damp. The noise from the showers being used in the neighbouring room was terrible, as if there is no soundproofing at all between rooms. Returning back to the hotel on our third day, the refreshments had not been topped up, the bed had not been properly made and no cleaning had been done that we could see. At breakfast, we found on more than one occasion the cutlery was dirty. We expected more from a four star country house / boutique hotel. These problems had such a cumulative effect that we decided to cut short our stay by a day and informed staff present at the time of our issues. We emailed the manager, Daniel Hannan twice but received no response.

We had our wedding here in Sept 2019 and it was the most perfect day!! I've read a few bad reviews on here and i cant see that we are talking about the same venue! All our guests said what an amazing wedding and party we had! No problems at all. Daniel and his team were always there whenever we needed them. We have since been back for our anniversary and enjoyed every minute. If you are getting married, please come and check it out. Its truly a beautiful place :-)

Came to stay overnight to attend a wedding. Room of an acceptable standard and the occasion was a success as we were a large happy group of friends and family. The MAJOR problem being the owner of the establishment, a gentleman named Daniel. A person more unsuited to running a hospitality business I cannot imagine. Awkward, cantankerous, making unfounded accusations against various members of our party and totally unsuitable to running a wedding venue. You have been warned.
